Griptonite Games: 3DS could bring almost 'console-quality' games, devs taking it more seriously now

3ds-redWhile you hardcore gamers continue to scoff at Nintendo's hardware, developers are beginning to see it in a different light, in no small part thanks to the newly announced 3DS. Griptonite Games' head JC Connors for one believes that the new handheld will bring almost "console-level quality" to the platform.

"Everyone looked at the 3DS with just how powerful it was, and the new features, the analog stick and the 3D, as an opportunity to bring almost console-level quality games to this handheld because they could," said Connors to Gamasutra.

"On the DS, you really couldn't and that's something that we've learned over the last six months. You can't treat this machine as just a DS plus. You almsot have to treat it like a console, because many of the things it can do are things that console can do. So, you know, ywhy not bring a more 'gamer' experience to that platform, if it can do really well with it?"

It comes as no surprise, therefore, that he finds third-party developers taking the 3DS a bit a lot more seriously now, especially that they've seen its potential to "bring something back" to the gamers.

"You know, a lot of the causal games that really bombarded the DS marketplace have now moved onto other platforms like the iPhone, so I think everyone looks at this as an opportunity to kind of bring something special back to the gamers."

It doesn't take much to conclude then that we'll be seeing something from Griptonite for the 3DS. The full interview can be found via the source link below.

PSP already brought handhelds, console quality games. That's no longer new. It's 6 years old.

And 3DS certainly won't be near PS3/360.

the PSP2....i remember an article back then saying that the PSP2'll be a technical monster 0_0

with the graphics alone between the xbox and 360

if the is true, then the 3DS is trash compared to it.....but of course we dont know yet; time will tell
