Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be "far bigger" than GTA PSP games

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - Image 1Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories will have nothing on Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, according to Gordon Hall, prez of Rockstar Leeds.

Hall says that, in terms of scope, (I doubt he means size), the game is much bigger than any of the GTAs they made for the PSP:

Chinatown Wars is much bigger than anything we have ever done before: more odd jobs, deeper missions, and more moments of over-the-top action.

We have a huge interaction with the Rockstar Social Club, a massive [narcotics trafficking] game that would stand alone on its own. The list goes on and on; this thing is huge. We are very proud of all of the PSP games we have made, especially the two GTA games, but this game is far bigger.

Mr. Hall, please. I can't want this game any more even if you offered to give me a million dollars. Though I'll take the million dollars. And your car.

I can't say I'm really all that excited about this game and I am a huge GTA fan. It seems to me that the best part of GTA is missing - the 3rd person view driving.

I love driving around the GTA world causing mayhem. On the DS it looks like everything is just a top-down via just like the original GTA with a little perspective thrown in. It doesn't seem like it would give you the feel of actually driving like in GTA3 & 4.

Also, I still can't understand why Rockstar doesn't all a kid-safe mode. Remove the excessive violence, cursing, hookers, drugs, etc and just make it a free-roam world like Midtown Madness. (yes, I know MM sucked). Free-roaming and just causing general mayhem is sooo much fun!

The DS cant support a real GTA game, thats why its done the way it is. I really dont know why they are doing this. Why not just make GTA San Andreas Stories for the PSP? But then again, its pretty obvious RockStar doesnt care about quality anymore, just about how to make a quick buck.

think gta san andreas would be very hard to put onto a single UMD due to the sheer size of the map

dual UMD with a minimal memory stick size requirement for an installation is an option

not ont i can see sony using though

But they don't make a game good. Ocarina of Time used to be amazing.. Play it now and it looks like two boxes fighting.. AMAZING game though. Chrono Trigger? Amazingly fun! Super Nintendo.

With the technology available today I'm sure they could squeeze it into a UMD. Plus, 3/4ths of the actual San Andreas DVD was just audio. They could eliminate alot of the music and just let you use your own soundtracks and it would fit fine.

thats awesome

own jukebox instead of of in game

and maybe have like two chat radio stations

because they are a crack up

also they could make it so you could insert mps3 into station folders so you can have your radio mixed with their radio jockey's

what i was thinking is selling with 2 UMDs plus a memory stick designed only to work with GTA:SAS acting as storage for an installation and game saves

Do you realize that 1/4 of a Dual-Layer DVD is bigger than a Dual-Layer UMD? Eliminating the sound won't be enough and they'd have to cut down on missions, features, etc. Plus, all that random countryside and desert would be even more useless. Don't get me wrong, I would love a San Andreas Stories on the PSP but it just won't work with the PSP's technology. (Unless of course they sell the game on a 4-8GB memory stick...)

And define a "real" GTA game. Ever play GTA2? Amazing game that has features they've never tried in the 3D ones. I'm still waiting for them to implement the respect feature the way it was used in that. Sometimes I wonder if people don't notice the "III" in GTAIII.
