Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars to use touch screen "extensively" |
Ó
Time to buy a new screen protector for your DS. Rockstar Leeds' Gordon Hall reveals that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be using the touch screen "extensively.":
[You'll use] the touch screen to fill in those little details left out of most console games. You may find yourself in a minigame hotwiring a car or breaking into a warehouse by disabling a key-code lock.
We also use the touch screen for more everyday events like buying and using [lottery] scratchcards. Everywhere it felt right to use the touch screen, we've done so.
Aside from this, the stylus will be used for your PDA, which will normally be found on the bottom half of the screen. Your PDA is your life in this game, probably more important than the cell phone was in GTA IV. It will give you access to your GPS, which links you to your contacts and your "favorite locations around the city." Also:
Just two more examples of PDA use are monitoring your drugs empire or ordering weapons from Ammunation Online and having them delivered to one of your safe houses.
The stylus will also be integral for the game's e-mailing system. Driving will still use the D-pad though, which only makes sense since you wouldn't want your hands blocking the screen while cops are pouring in from all over the place.
