GDC 2010: More DS2 details uncovered

dsfamily We all can't wait to see what's next to come from Nintendo for their handheld lines. The DS - and all its permutations - have been widely successful, sitting at the top of the charts for long, almost uninterrupted periods of time. At the GDC 2010, it's therefore a welcomed sight to have some more information about the new DS2.

Here are but some tidbits that unraveled at the San Francisco event pertaining to Nintendo's said new handheld:

The new system features a dual screen, typical and characteristic of the original DS unit. However, the main difference is that the gap between the two screens are almost negligible, to the point that the user can use it as one big screen. It is also said to feature bigger and higher resolution.
DS2 will feature an accelerometer.
The dev kit is designed to be similar in power to the GameCube. As you may have already heard, the new DS is rumored to have an Nvidia Tegra chip.
An E3 2010 announcement and a late 2010 release is possible.

That's what we have so far right now, but it sure only teases the appetite some more for it. We'll be sure to keep you updated on any more details regarding the DS2.

I still mantain that there are very, very, few games on the DS that required a second screen to begin with. I could have done with pressing start to switch to the stat menu, and kept the energy wastend on the second screen for longer battery life.

Still, the same could be said for the stylus control for the most part...

i now really doubt they will be using tegra because of the devkit coment & its not nintendo charecter to wreck compatability by switching arc

ok im all for motion control but ninty is all about innovation. this technology already exists. make new gameplay technology! idk what but somethin new. you guys only have billions to play with on the research & development...

same thing goes for sony. lol although the go hurt it pretty bad so they're sorta broke but they still got good pockets.

And as much as i hate microsoft its innevtile that they'll join in on the handheld wars soon. seriously though apple isnt even a threat & they really cant talk about they're "idevices" bein competible devices

i remember seein some1 post/comment a while back that microsoft had about 40 billion & sony 50 billion. how much is ninty worth?
