President of the Association Française de Revendeurs Spécialisés (AFRS) David Hecq, a video game journalist and gamer, is running for mayor in Anzin Saint-Aubin, France. The non-profit retailers association's head honcho is campaigning to lead a town of 2,500 inhabitants.AFRS roughly translates to "French specialized retailers association," and its goal is to put retailers that exclusively sell games together. Hecq is not only the head of AFRS, but also the creator of gaming website Objectif Micro which provides reviews and other needs of French gamers. In other words, he's among us lovers of games and he's playing politics.
Election of city mayors and councilors in France will happen in 2008. Hecq is not part of any political party, but we'd sure love to see gamers backing him up during public speeches and the like. Gaming sessions in the city hall sounds fun, so send in your support!
