Front MissionAccording to the German site Gamefront, Japanese gaming bible Famitsu has confirmed that Square-Enix is releasing yet another title for the DS. If the buzz is correct, the said  developer is porting its original game Front Mission from the PS2 and over to the Nintendo DS with some new never-before seen Wanzers. Glen Duval from Front Mission 5: Scars of the War is also expected to make an appearance. Let's wait and see, shall we?

The Front Mission franchise is a Strategy/RPG game for the PS2 in which the player assumes the role of two pilots of large mecha known as Wanzers. Front Mission 4 is set in Germany and South America circa 2096, six years after Front Mission 3. The game has two major plot lines involving Elsa, a new recruit for the EC's Armored Tactics Research Corps, "Durandal". The Durandal's initial assignment is to investigate recent attacks made on German military bases by unknown elite Wanzer forces.

The second plot is set in Venezuela and centers around a UCS Wanzer pilot named Darril and his squad mates Renges and Chaeffer. The rest of the game shifts back and forth between the two scenarios every few missions. Front Mission 5 is harder to explain because an English version was never released despite a petition made to Square Enix by North American fans.

I have Front Mission 4 for PS2, and like it much, but I was hoping this would be either a FM5 port or a completely original FM game. Ah well...
