Independence Day aside, July 4 marks the canonization of Saint Ulrich of Augsburg, Saladin defeated Guy of Lusignan, the abolition of slavery in the state of New York, and the day Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was published.
But for otakus, hardcore and casual gamers, it could only mean one thing - it's time for Anime Expo. People who were able to join Anime Expo '07 definitely had a blast, but we can get our share of fun by looking at these cosplay snapshots from Siliconera.
On the left is what Siliconera brands as the best Final Fantasy related costume at the show. Looking at the detail put into it: the wings, and metal claw very close to Vincent's FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus look, saying so ain't a far shot. On the right is a bunch of Solid Snake wannabes, along with other cast from the Metal Gear Solid series. Props go to the Metal Gear Solid 4 version of Snake for looking the part, and we give special mention to the poor guy under the box.
What's a cosplay convention without these classics? It's difficult not to see Kefka and Terra everywhere, but Mario in a pimp outfit equipped with a spanking stick is a good change. That walking Wiimote is almost a staple for these these events since the release of Nintendo's waving stick.

They are all Meh or 'teh geekyness' exept for the MGS people. Now old man snake just f'ing owns.
It was pretty cool, I saw that vincent girl, she was cool, and probably one of the hottest girls there. But anyways, one thing I noticed here was that, everybody had a DS and no PSP's, I only saw 2 other people PSP's playing it in public, one was playing madden, and the other.... homebrew!! The DS population was way more then the PSP, like 100 to 1 possibly (there had to have been alot more people with PSP's that I didn't see, also there was 40,000 people that attended.). Also, that wiimote guy was the smart one, he had shade everywhere he went... while others got sun burnt and owned in the sun.
