What do you get when you throw Contra, Gears of War, and Devil May Cry into a blender? Well, a G.I. Joe video game apparently, as that's how GamePro describes the new Joe adventure that's headed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, PSP, and Wii.

The latest GamePro issue features an inside look at Electronic Arts' G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, complete with some first screenshots. Check 'em out below.

Too bad I don't see Fumbles (the sniper with a doctorate) anywhere there. No mention was made regarding which platform the screenshots were taken from, but I'm willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt and say that they're from either the Wii or PSP versions.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra will act as a sequel to the movie and will be released alongside it this August. Here's hoping at least one of these two turns out to be decent.

Another crap EA game

Come on EA! Make something good for once. All your games are teh sux. This game looks two generations old. Granted, movie games suck, but it's G.I. Joe! Whip up something special like a new proprietary engine. You need to take a lesson or two from Activision.

I have to agree with you on one thing

That the game at its current condition looks like crap. Though what your fail at is for EA to take lessons from Activision. I find it to be dumb for EA to learn from Activision or atleast the current Activision. The current Activision is like the new EA, ever since it got big with the Activsion Vivendi merger it has been cutting out original IPs and spitting out sequel after sequel. EA on the other hand, with cutting jobs is now smaller than Activision and is placed where Activison used to be. They are in my opinion the new Activision. They are putting out great new IPs like Dead Space and Mirrors Edge. They are also picking up IPs that Activision dropped and taking risks with games like Brutal Legend and Dante's Inferno. It just seems like to me whoever is the biggest feels like they can just do whatever they want and still be on top. EA has shown that is not possible and is now redeeming itself.

Simple shooter

From the screens and the previews, this game is a straight up arcade throwback. That could be fun, but why bother with a retail release?

lol...

a handful of screen shots and you guys know how the game will be... wait for demo already... aslong as it's not like the street fighter: the movie game, we are lucky to have it.

phiyuku

You forget that the whole staff for Mirrors Edge got axed. Well that was the rumour I heard anyway. It was a good concept but it wasn't widely supported by the public due to it's cr4ppy different for the sake of different controls and short storyline. BigGulps you also need to understand that it's very difficult to come up with a new gaming concept, especially a new game engine especially when there's plenty of redeployable game engine's already in EA's posession.

Hmm actually

From a handful of screenshots I can usually pick how a game plays at least. I may not be able to see it has an engrosing storyline or carefully planned out AI, but I can at least see that this appears to be another over the shoulder shooter much like the GI Joe arcade game years ago admitedly that was 2D sprites.
