No one else knows how to play the game of tease more than Square-Enix and the team behind Final Fantasy III. The 29-second movie clip may not be enough to make your heart race when viewed on its own, but seeing it playing on the screens of a Nintendo DS created the huge visual impact that Square-Enix was aiming for (at least for us).
Even if you know that the game wouldn't exactly look like that in real life, the commercial got you to see it that way. Even the 3-minute long trailer for the game that was previously posted here at QJ is no match for the short clip. Final Fantasy III will be released on Japanese shores on August 24, 2006 and by Fall in North America.

However, if it doesn't have CG cutscenes and only real-time ones, I wouldn't be surprised. It's like 1997 all over again... Square shows footage that makes people think the game is going to look like the prerendered footage and people go ga-ga over it....
it's still a 16 year old game. pre-rendered cutscenes doesn't make it any better.

square is known for its graphic capabilities, dont underestimate them. I can tell your a psp fanboy, i was once too until i bought a DS and now im no longer.

no, the nail isnt on the psp coffin yet, your failing to realize that final fantasy is comming to the psp as well. I think it was crisis core and that vincent game.

okay, it switches to 2 screens than one again. how is it fake? Metroid prime hunters does the same thing, are you saying that the game we've been playing all these months have been fake, and we were really playing nothing? think about it.

I LOVE my DS. absolutely love it. Even when it gouges into my palm. Do me a favor and think for a few seconds (I know it's REALLY hard to do that sometimes) next time you feel the need to make a completely unsubstantiated claim that someone is a fanboy...Just because I'm not interested in playing FF3 for DS doesn't make me a DS hater, does it? I just hate FF games...:P

Does it put "a" nail in PSP's coffin? Yes. A highly wanted game? Gamers will buy more DS to have access to this game. More sales. This includes America and Europe.
The DS is more than capable to play CG scenes. The video is not a fake. Go play Metroid Prime Hunters and Castlevania. DS can hold its' own.
Like I said in most of my posts and future posts, it's going to come down to games. All next gen consoles and handhelds can do graphics now. Graphics is not a major hurdle any more.
