Final Fantasy III Exceeds Square Enix Expectations

The good news for Final Fantasy III just keeps on coming in! It looks like the game has now passed the 500,000 units sold mark! At first it was thought that they only shipped 450,000 units but it seems that was incorrect. Square Enix only expected 350,000 games sold this week so they are impressed. The numbers aren't exactly confirmed yet. Confirmed numbers will be published in the Japan Monthly Sales post on September 7th.

This is good news for third parties considering many of them felt that it was hard to sell a lot on the DS. There are very few third party PSP games that have achieved over 500,000 sales. FF3 might be the first third party title to break 1 million in Japan since Tamagotchi Corner Shop.

PSP third party games continue to sell on average much better than their DS counterparts especially in the west where only Nintendo first partly titles get great numbers.



I believe GTA: Liberty cities is the top selling third party portable game in the west.

Stop spreading your hate for a better handheld. By better I mean more respected in the gaming world. The psp which I have is more for other items then gaming and all of you know it. Another thing I've noticed is how you sputter how superior the graphics are for psp but all you do is play homebrewed games which are choppy graphics that gba could put out....



Oh by the way FFIII woot woot. Can't wait for this game to reach the shores ^^
