Fils-Aime looks forward to good DS sales, disapproves of Wii bundles

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils Aime - Image 1With the shortage still plaguing the Nintendo Wii, it looks like things are looking up for its handheld cousin, the DS. And that's not all: Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime has made it clear that Nintendo disapproves of certain retailers unscrupulous Wii bundle practices.

FIls-AIme said that "the DS continues to perform exceptionally well with some retailers voicing concerns about DS inventory going into the holiday." On the other hand, Nintendo is aware of the fact that some retailers have resorted to bundling extra games and accessories with their Wiis in stock as an excuse to jack up prices. Fils-Aime had this to say about the practice:

Retailers have already been given feedback that we are not big fans of that. We think it masks some of the price advantage we have versus our competition and, frankly, the consumer should decide what they want.

We don't have to remind retailers of the strength we have right now. We are simply making an observation and that reinforces our point quite nicely with retailers.

It'll be interesting to see how those retailers respond to Fils-Aime's comment.

Thats respectable but you dont like mario or zelda not kirby probably you think they are cheap when all companys pull crap and even after what I have stated which you just seem to ignore everything i post....you seem to hate Reggie and you are JUST NOW stating that you dont "Hate" nintendo.........well im confused....and think about it what is a company built for.......to make money so...why would nintendo have any problem with even the most horrible games like cruisn being released on the wii??? Its OTHER publishers that suck! Capcom is amazing they have made Zack and wiki and No more heroes (did capcom make that? cant remember....) And sega has and will revive classic franchises exclusivly on wii (they are legendary also by the way) So its not Nintendos fault its other publishers.....and its Almost christmas just about to be 2008 they dont release theyre next games info until several months into the year so why the heck do you say nintendo will drop support????? Oh and some info....state your opinion...but dont be such a douche about it!!! Consider what others feel!!

You have every right to be confused. Have you read your own post?

Just because he doesn't like cartoonish gimmicky child icons doesn't mean he can't appreciate the technology, innovation and fun factors involved in said games.

I personally cannot play any of those games you mentioned. They simply do not appeal to me as a gamer. I had previously tried to enjoy them, but it was all for naught. I bought a Nintendo Wii and a Nintendo DS. I never touched them. It's not that I hate the company or the man, it's just that I hated what was offered to me.

Before you call me a fanboy for getting rid of my Nintendo systems, I also got rid of my PSP recently for those exact reasons. I own a PS3 and an XBOX 360 and truly appreciate all the systems designers for their efforts and their attempts to bring quality games to people.

(PS: Who the hell cares about "classics"? I don't buy systems because of the possibility for emulation of your so-called legends.)

Well okay but i was talking to him....he has been bashing nintendo relentlessly if you have ever read his past posts you would know and hes al around just been a jerk to be honest. Thats fine i love Mario games i love kirby games i like playing halo and we all have our own opinions which is perfectly fine..but he has bashed the system and everything to do with it yeah everyones opinon matters it really does but he sure doesnt seem to think about others opinion....oh and by the way me and millions more care about the "classics" if you dont fine and so called legends?? those companys are some of the greatest influences on gaming and another thing no your not a fanboy unless you want to be which is fine I love anything nintendo but before i go bashing everyone else i look up facts..........example: Ps3 they REALLY screwd it up...and i have never ownd a Playstation system but i still respect them too. and i even wish them success.....instead of being like "Wow ps3 sucks i hope they never sell another console i hope it dies a slow death!"

so thats ma opinion.....

What the heck does Nintendo have to do with Midway's crappy games? Nintendo isn't the gaming police. Also, there is nothing wrong with criticism, if I think a game or an idea sucks, I say it sucks. Like the elimination of mp3 on the new photo channel (But, I didn't have to upgrade). But you on the other hand just spit hate not criticism.
