We've seen the most popular video game mascot, Mario, in all forms and sizes - from being just an 8-bit sprite to a flying plumber bee in 480p. What most of us want to know is how the family-friendly hero would look like in real life, and if it doesn't have to be from Nintendo, here's a 3D model of him.
After seeing this, we have to wonder if Nintendo deliberately limited its Wii hardware so it won't have to dish out amazingly realistic Mario games that show the plumber's true color. Can you imagine this guy driving race karts? We definitely won't know who to feel bad for if Bowser fights his nemesis in very human-like form that looks like the guy on top.

Even though the concept is interesting (and the effort the person who spent time making this), this is the reason why I'm glad Mario's universe doesn't look realistic.

You're never going to have to worry about realistic graphics on a Nintendo platform.

Really? RE4, the Metroid Prime series, and other various games throughout the Nintendo platforms had pretty good realistic-looking graphics, and don't pull up that port BS neither.

Who cares about console sales if Nintendo or third party only make crap "casual" games for it? Casual games is just an excuse to be lazy about developing cheap minigames that sell.

I agree that this is the route that Nintendo would take with Mario in future HD consoles.
That is AWESOME!!!! Although I'm left with two thoughts: 1. Why would Peach ever want that? 2. Where's the rubber band? Hahaha!!!! "Mario wasnt meant to look like real life" EXACTLY!!!!!
Although he could've made him look much younger. That would've been less creepy, but still a fantastic job on the textures.
