Famitsu Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings feature translated |
The Jeux-France screens (or scans?) from Famitsu are only half the story. The print Famitsu had a Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings feature, complete with Japanese text needing some translation. This is where Destructoid reader WestCabaretDrive comes in, who provided that site a translation of the first page of the Famitsu feature. Page one contains stuff on the game, including features on using the touch-screen (looks like the RTS observation made by a commenter in the Famitsu screens article holds true for now), and the new location Vaan and Penelo are set to explore, the Eagle Clan-inhabited floating island "Remureisu". You know English localization will morph that name. Here's to hoping localization at Square-Enix proceeds quick. It was agony waiting for the original FFXII to migrate to the US.
Oh, and page two contains an interview with Motomu Toriyama. Translation still being worked on.
BEGIN TRANSLATION (slightly edited from source for clarity):
[blue letters going down left side]
Once again, an adventure on the stage of the floating continent
[picture in upper left corner]
Vaan: It's obvious! It's the start of a new adventure!
[upper left paragraph]
After their previous adventure, the protagonists of the original game, Vaan and Penelo, are busy as Sky Pirates. As the story begins they have both wound up at the sleeping treasure known as the Gurevados (?) Ruins. And so, on the floating continent Remureisu (?) located in the high skies of Ivalice they begin their trip.
[captions]
Even walking the World map, motion is controlled by touch!!
The character's faces and comic outpourings are developed through conversation
Penelo: You're late!
Vaan: ...Sorry.
Penelo talking to Llyud. Is it about the defeat of that Eagle clan on the right?
Penelo: When we're in trouble we stick together; that's how we survive.
The defeated numbers of the Eagle clan. What has happened to them?
Vaan: Hey, keep it together! You're going to be okay!
[upper right paragraph]
Recorded as selling over 2,400,000 copies, the Japan Game Grand Prize 2006 (?) winning PS2 FFXII's latest installment comes to the DS. Now we can finally show you clear screenshots and a developer interview in our two-part report.
[lower left paragraph]
The Unknown Floating Continent Remureisu
Remureisu is a general term for both the main island of the floating continent, which rose long ago from the surface world of Ivalice to the upper skies, and the smaller islands which surround it. The climate features differ from island to island in the archipelago.
Across Remureisu, the free-flying winged members of the Eagle clan, like the forest-dwelling Vaaera clan, coexist peacefully with nature. They are of quiet character, never excessively concerned about anything, never complaining or discontent, and without excessive ambitions or dreams.
The story of the Legendary Floating Continent, and the powerful mist barrier that has stretched around Remureisu for a period of several thousand years, is preserved by the Eagle clan as the Legend of the Sky.
