Erik Estavillo now sues Blizzard, subpoenas Martin Lee Gore and Winona Ryder |

Ó
To help make his case, he turns to Depeche Mode's Martin Lee Gore and Winona Ryder - you'll know how that "makes sense" in just a bit.
Estavillo filed a civil complaint charge this morning against ActiBlizz which he claims to have "deceitful" business practices, which “continues to maintain a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game’s sneaky and deceitful practices.”
According to Estavillo, World of Warcraft was designed “to walk or run at a calculated slow pace, resulting in the player taking longer to get where he or she needs to go in the game.” The slow walking, therefore, prolongs the gaming process, resulting in more subscription revenues.
Estavillo then turned again to his health problems - OCD, Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder, major depression and Crohn’s Disease - to what led to the suicide of EverQuest player, Shawn Woolley. He “doesn’t want to end up like Shawn did as he [Estavillo] relies on videogames heavily for the little ongoing happiness he can achieve in this life.”
And to put the cherry on the ice cream, Estavillo subpoenas Martin Lee Gore and Winona Ryder to testify on his behalf regarding alienation. He explains that "he (Gore) himself has been known to be sad, lonely, and alienated as can be seen in the songs he writes."
As for Winona, Estavillo reasons using JD Salinger's Catcher in the Rye - a common interest between him and her. According to him, Ryder will be able to “explain the significance of alienation in Catcher in the Rye and will also testify to how alienation in the book can tie to alienation in real live/video games such as World of Warcraft.”
The banned Resistance player is now asking for US$ 1 million in punitive damages and a court order for Blizzard to make the WoW characters walk faster.
I should be ashamed that I'm still laughing.
Estavillo and his lawsuits:
- Resistance player sues Sony after getting the banhammer
- Banned Resistance player appeals, sues for even bigger money
- Banned Resistance player turns his sights on Microsoft and Nintendo, sues them after Sony

This guy seems more like a guy just wanting money. Actibliz can do whatever they want with that game. He is NOT required to play it. He can go play something else. You get mounts and can use gryphons (forgot the hoard equivalent) to fly around faster.
It is Actibliz's game not his. He doesn't like it he can find a new "fun" game to go play. This is just a load of bull about a guy wanting to just make news and some cash without doing anything.
If you have suicidal thoughts seek medical help, don't just treat it on your own with video games. Depression can be a very bad thing.

This guy should be complaining about the lockout period for Raids. One raid a week per character (per instance, of course) is a bit more of a legit topic. And daily quests, too. They are all about prolonging subscriptions. And then there is the achievements.. You can get a 310% flying Drake if you do all of the important seasonal things, which takes a full year.

It is why they do not give you a mount at level 5 or something.....they want you to waste time walking everywhere. Also why you will finish a quest and the quest giver may have you return to the same area 2 or 3 times.
It's also why fishing has a timer, why gathering herbs/ore takes just a couple seconds.....when you do these things thousands of times, it adds up to minutes.
Still....that is the business strategy for MMO's and if you don't like it....don't buy the game.

Seems like he needs to quit the video games for a bit and go do other things.
What will happen next?

One must agree to that EULA in order to play the game and it would be similar to EULAs in place for networking services on PSN, XBL or Wii which states that the product is to be used as intended and any deviation from that gives the company the right to terminate your use of that service. Hell, you read most any EULA provided by any company behind a service (such as PSN, XBL) you'll notice that it clearly states that the company responsible has the right to terminate your account and access to the service at any given point for any reason (if at all) they see fit.
If dude would get a lawyer, the lawyer would explain that to him.

UMd drive can't drain battery since there is no UMD drive, and PSP games load as fast as possible since they are already on the internal memory. The onyl reason I see here is the lack of games that haven't been offered as DL, but I think Sony will soon release a lot more game on PSN.
So, please hackers, if you make a CFW, disable the ISO-loader.

I played WoW before any expansions, before you could get a mount at level 30, before you could get a mount at level 20. Unless he's been shoving his money at Blizzard for two or more years, he has nothing to complain about. Realistically, I wouldn't blame Blizzard for trying to settle out of court for the amount this idiot paid in subscription fees.
TL;DR If you think the characters walk too slow, it doesn't matter because you get a mount much earlier than you should these days.

Frankly I don't feel any pity for this attention seeking dullard. Just goes to show that the species is better off without some people. Hopefully the next time he appears on the internet it'll be on the Darwin Awards.

WoW is just a game but many people find it more satisfying to form social relationships online more and more in these days, because it's just easier and there is less of a chance of getting hurt emotionally.
People that get into it too much will not notice things changing around them, it doesn't make them "week and amature", it makes them psychologically vulnerable and addicted, to the point where they would rather game than eat or sleep. It's very unhealthy, but not entirely their fault. It can be very much like a drug where the only way out is to seek help.
I'm tired of people blaming people for being immersed so realistically they forget what is important to them.
