Eiji Aonuma won't abandon Zelda series anytime soon - Image 1Eiji Aonuma, one of the legends behind the Zelda franchise, recently said that he will continue to work on the game series, alongside Shigeru Miyamoto, for a long time to come. Talking about Ocarina of Time, Aonuma says:

IÂ’m happy that a title I worked on some time ago remains highly praised to this day, but that also shows how none of the subsequent games in the series have surpassed it.

As someone who is still working on the series, I have mixed feelings about that. Because I havenÂ’t yet surpassed it, I canÂ’t quit. Surprisingly, that simple motivation may be the reason I continue to work on the Zelda series.

Aside from Ocarina, Aonuma also worked on Majora's Mask, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass. Basically, most of the greatest hits of the franchise.

Suffice it to say then, that his continuing presence in the franchise is great news. We know that a new Zelda game is already in the works, so hopefully this is the one from Aonuma that surpasses even Ocarina.

Not long at all is it?

Though after Nintendos recent jokes with games like Wii Music and Animal Crossing id be suprised if anything hard core came from them.

I dont get it either. All Zelda games had the same exact gameplay with average storylines. The only differences are graphics, map, enemies and some weapons. Don't get me wrong, I love all Zelda games, but I love them all equally because it's the same game.

My fav is A Link to the Past, because it was the first Zelda I've ever played and is IMO still the best.

I agree...music and all. With Zelda II right behind it. The level up system was fun.

MM was my favorite, but I'm glad that he is holding his next project as importantly as he seems. Hopefully he pulls it off because IMO, TP was overrated >__> Just doesn't compare to today's adventure games.

» Majora's Mask? Really?

I hated that game. Such a terrible follow-up to such an epic game like Ocarina, in my opinion.

I may have liked it if Ocarina hadn't been released first, but the comparison between them was monumental. Majora just didn't have anything on Ocarina.

That "3 days to do everything" and then everything starts over again was just annoying.

I thought it was an amazing element to the game. Especially with adding character development and such. You really got to immerse yourself in the lives of the townspeople.
