EA shows some Wii-love. - Image 1During their recent financial earnings presentation, Electronic Arts' CEO Larry Probst made a lot of announcements. One announcement was that EA has a lot of plans for the upcoming year, and most of it involves the Wii and the DS. In fact, he clearly stated that EA is aiming to be the top third-party player when it comes to Nintendo's platforms:

On the Nintendo platforms, we think that we can be a very strong number two. Clearly Nintendo will always be number one on the Wii and Nintendo DS, but we think we have a realistic goal of being number two, with a market share goal of 15-20 percent.

He then goes on to that they are now developing 15 SKUs for both the DS and the Wii (this is in addition to the recent announcement that Spore and My Sims are being ported to the DS). Furthermore, he also noted that there are plans to port several EA Sports titles onto the DS and Wii.

How they are planning to handle so many Nintendo-focused projects at once? Probst simply pointed to EA's newest acquisition, Headgate Studios, and explained that the addition of Headgate "will give us some additional development capacity for the Wii, and we are devoting some additional resources toward Wii and NDS development as well."

Despite the all-out support that EA is offering to Nintendo, though, Probst was careful to add that they will not be compromising their position with other consoles, and that all this "is not at the expense of other platforms that we deem strategic, and you will continue to see us maintaining a strategic position on all platforms."

» #2

They are saying that even though Nintendo will always be the #1 software publisher for their systems, EA thinks it can become #2 publisher.

» EA is bored.

I am not fan of EA because it is not really video game to me expect soccer perhaps but sorry, EA. You are out of my league. I am into Konami, Capcom, and some others. EA sucks, to be honest! SORRY! Soccer can be fun but not all EA games are fun and is NOT video game.
