dsorganizeThat was fast! Just a few days ago Dragonminded released DSOrganize v2.0. Today, the fast-working DS homebrew master has released DSOrganize v2.01 Beta. Here's a quick refresher (not that you need it unless your memory's shot). DSOrganize turns your DS into a calendar, address book, day planner and sci calculator with hand writing recognition, file browser and multi-language support. It's what every busy DS gamers need for organizing everything that happens in-between games (we call it real life). Was that too quick? You can always read more about the evolution of DSOrganize here.

By the way, v2.01 is not a minor update judging from the changelog and fixes:
  • Calendar mode with editable reminders.
  • Day Planner mode with editable time slots.
  • Address Book with vCard support. Currently this can read and write back .vcf files that can be used in Apple's Adress Book, Outlook in Windows, and probably plenty of other apps in Linux. It does not, however, preserve data that it doesn't support, as currently there is a bug I can't trace in this routine.
  • INI file settings, with a configuration screen in the app.
  • Handwriting recognition. Just start a glyph on an empty part of the screen.
  • Multiple language support, see Sample.lng for usage.

  • File browser with NDS launching support (GBAMP, SCCF, SCSD only).
  • Scientific calculator with basic trig functions.
  • Text, html and ini file editor including syntax hilighting on ini and html files.
  • Image viewer supporting the following formats:

-JPG
-PNG
-BMP
-GIF (Animated and otherwise)
-BIN (with optional pallate file)
-HTML help files for each page. Help files are language specific, put your translated helpfiles under the "HELP<langauge name>" directory.
-Todo list with a simple priority sorted list.
-Scribble pad with several useful tools and save to png or bmp
-Sound player with support for the following formats

  • WAV (16bit only)
  • MP3 (With ID3 v1.1 support)
  • Streaming MP3 (Not finished yet)
  • OGG
  • MOD
  • XM
  • IT
  • S3M
  • Text and html viewer with bookmark support.
  • Homebrew database with separate lists per card type.

Fixes:

  • Added new fields to homebrew database: date, version, size of package.
  • Reverted from eabi back to r17 due to regresses:

-Fixed .xm crash regress.

-Fixed supercard boot failure crash.

-Possibly fixed crash relating to ani gif files.

  • Improved key responsiveness on module player.

  • Fixed issue with shoutcast url's with no trailing / not loading properly.

  • Changed fat lib to rein r15 modified. Hopefully this works with M3 SD.

  • Fixed transparency issue with NDS file icons (Thanks LiraNuna).

  • Fixed issue with nds icon for dsorganize having bad transparency.

  • Changed file code to allow icons/descriptions for .sd.nds and .ds.gba files.

  • Fixed cursor bug in text editor with page down and files less than 11 lines long.

  • Homescreen highlights last app used when exiting back to it.

  • Fixed a bug relating to pressing y while hilighting a .ini file in browser.

  • Allowed homescreen customization, edit in the .ini for now.

  • Fixed minor bug with copying file then creating a new file without pasting.

  • Changed the way alternate browser modes function.

  • Added click to edit on calendar and day planner.

  • Fixed a weird bug with homebrew database scrolling.

  • Added setting for DD/MM/YY display.

  • Added setting to enable or disable second tap action.

  • Added setting to change the html renderer for better compatiblity.

  • Upgraded to latest tcplib, hopefully this fixes more issues.

Dragonminded says he has not completed work on the handwriting recognition feature and the app currently works only when the DSOrganize directory is on the root of the card. More fixes are coming so hold on. But from the way he works, its not going to be a long wait.

M3 Question

I will have to try this on my M3 when I get home... Does anyone know if any of the files need to be converted first or is a raw copy and paste sufficient? Thank you Dragonminded and Crew for an incredibly useful piece of programming.

Needs Mp3 to play WHILE reading text docs

I love this program and i literally use it daily. But, why cant he make it so that you can read your documents while listening to music? The mp3 feature is kinda useless without that feature becuase when you play an mp3 with this program the light doesnt shut off. You cant even close the lid to save the batteries and listen. Please implement reading while listening to music. Thanks!

DOES work with M3!

In case anyone cares, this does work with the M3 SD. Just put the DSOrganize folder on the root of the SD card, then convert the 2 .nds files and 1 .gba file using the included game manager. On the home screen of the Movie Player, select game then run DSOrganize.nds, using the START button, not A as that causes the movie player to freeze. Thanks again for a great app, and justifying my DS purchase on my taxes!
