pianods1Homebrew coder CrashingThunder has released a new version of his virtual piano simulator for the Nintendo DS, Piano DS. The latest update of the brew includes a few fixes to resolve some issues from the previous release.

Developer's note:

Current features:

  • 27 playable notes
  • Nice graphics :D

Planned features:

  • Ability to save, load and record songs.
  • Volume Control
  • Brightness control
  • Slider to move piano left or right for more octaves
  • Cooler looking graphics and animations.

Other stuff:

  • Please play this on an actual DS if possible. It's much easier to play and seems to respond better, as it's kinda difficult to click notes really fast.

Would this work on a 3ds?

Would be nice to see some homebrew that uses the Easy Piano accessory. Comes with the same-named game, it's a little 1-octave keyboard that plugs into the GBA port.

The game's available for about 7UKP (about $10 American, approx) in England. Would be nice to see one of the existing modular synth / tracker programs adapted to use this, or include it in a new one.

It's so obvious it's crying out to be done! And would quite possibly make the best handheld instrument ever! Potential to be better than a Kaoss pad! Compose real music on the keyboard, then use the DS's touchscreen and computing power for a more powerful tool than many full-size keyboards. It'd be like a handheld mini-studio.

BTW, if any coder (see my other post) would like, I could buy an Easy Piano for you, in exchange for about $10 worth of American stuff, some cool item or snack food, I'd decide as and when. My email is the name I'm posting here with, the one that starts with G. Then gmail, and of course dotcom. Comprehend that, spambots!
