Jeff Hrycak just put up a quick update for his 3D DS homebrew game, Fandian, based on the old Sonic Skeletons. It's still got a long way to go, but this project is definitely promising, with good controls and large 3D worlds.

Changelog:

Reload with x removed
Increased mobility

Other notable features of the project include skeletal animation, static and dynamic point lights, shadow volumes, sky boxes, object and environment of collision detection, severity, pencil picking patterns and multiple maps support for large worlds. For future releases, Jeff Hrycak plans to add AI, some scripting, and an interactive 3D map.
