DS homebrew just got a little more futuristic. As his entry for the NeoFlash Spring Coding Compo, homebrew dev n00bey (aka leinad) has come up with an Armagetron clone, a 3D multiplayer racing game based on the light cycle races in Tron.

In DronS, each player is represented as a line. The objective is to avoid driving into other lines while trying to kill other players by getting them to ram into these same lines. For the Tron-challenged, it's kinda like Snake, except you don't eat anything.

N00bey says this version mainly contains code cleaning and bug fixes. The server should also now offer stable gameplay for more than 2 rounds. Here's a rundown of DronS v1.5's features:

English, German, Czech, Spanish, Dutch and French laguage support
Online-Multiplayer feature - Play against people all over the world (Well... yet not much activity ...)
Supports NeoFlash Rumble Pak
Very customizable: You can set every color, speed, arena size, mirroring, acceleration, brakes ammount, maximal speed, rumble ....
3D-Gameplay:

It is possible to steer the camera
The "head" of the players are displayed as cars
Walls have some textures on it
The ground is mirroring everything

The whole button-map is configurable
