Donkey Kong NES style on Lego!

What happens when you take one VERY creative team, a love for Donkey Kong, CGI animation, and one Lego block? You got one hella cool stop-motion animation of Donkey Kong doing his monkey business Lego-style!

The guys over at BitFlicks (a month-old site that puts up really cool videos every week) are the ones responsible for this, but don't even bother asking them how they did it, 'coz as they put it, they're not quite ready to share the special recipe just yet. But we don't mind, long as there's always some new creatively-made goodies for the viewing public, we don't have any cause for complain.

Although... it would be great if they spill the beans on how they did this, and perhaps give others the creative boost they need to take on fun projects like this one, don't cha think?

Completely fake.

It can be done in video effects software, all you have to do is enhance the bevel of the pixels. Its a preset effect in all software.

I could have done this with my eyes closed.

Having a bit of experience with 3d software, I'm willing to bet that that isn't a real lego block.

Hell, that's probably not even a real table.

Most 3d software allows you to superimpose a video as an objects texture. Just make a basic 3d lego block, apply the video texture, render the scene, and voila! Instant fake-o 3d lego block with Mario on it.

Not that difficult. I mean, the video's cool and all (for having absolutely nothing in it but the novelty factor that it's supposedly on a lego. ooooh.) but whatever.

I don't see why you say it's fake. Plenty of people use stop-motion animation to do rediculously long movies, up to and including full-lenth feature films. Why is it impossible then for a group of dedicated individuals to do the same thing here? In fact, it would most likely be easier than doing a normal stop motion film, because all they have to do is create each frame one by one, for a short 22 seconds. Each frame would also be easy to do, as a single 1x1 block could represent each pixel, and voila, a Mario movie in Lego.

Besides that, I don't entirely trust the comments of a bunch of unregistered people, especially when they call themselves nameless or stupid things like yo-yo or vvfds.

is it easier to type than read? in their words, "a love for Donkey Kong, CGI animation, and one Lego block"it's quite obvious they've used a video texture. it's also possible that they used a pixel bevel effect, but that would have been painful. but to call it a fake, and critisize them?

QJ.NET gets spankin' new articles many times, but all of a sudden they publish an old story. What's with that?
