Koch Media has been known as a PC developer, but it's now ready to expand and enter the console and handheld arena. It's doing just that in a big way using a two-pronged strategy that it hopes will fulfill its ambitions.Koch chose the Nintendo Wii and DS platforms for obvious reasons: the two have large and rapidly growing install bases which cater to gamers of all ages. In that respect, the firm went on a major acquisition drive to pave the right avenues in bringing games to gamers on their own terms.
A big financial premium was given to the Deep Silver label to publish the titles and projects that they'll be working on. The company believes that consumers will recognize the brand, making the introduction of their wares easier.
Assigned director of acquisitions is no less than ex-Nintendo head of European developer business Marko Hein. Hein is described as the upstart publisher's "go to guy" for his experience in the field.
Koch says that its ambitions include not only bringing games across platforms, but becoming market leaders in the long run. With Deep Silver, a two-year spectrum was laid out to accomplish a primary set of goals.
