Britain seizes Ah, Christmas. The time for celebrating life, showing goodwill to your fellow man, and being careful you don't get ripped off by cheap electronic knockoffs.

British customs officials seized fake Nintendo DS and DS Lites recently, as they come with potentially dangerous power adapters that could cause serious harm and broken hearts.

The products were bought from websites mainly based in Asia. They cost around GBP 40 (US$ 58), which is a little below half of the actual price of the handheld. Officials gave warnings after seizing the products.

"At best these consoles would have led to disappointment on Christmas morning. At worst they could have caused serious harm or injury," said Pamela Rogers from HM Revenue and Customs. Mike Rawlinson, managing director of Nintendo's fraud investigation company at the ELSPA, says "We are asking all concerned parents to be diligent -- when a bargain seems too good to be true, it often is."

Moral lesson: don't be a scrooge.

Why couldn't they just sue them? Like... selling crap that might be dangerous is just wrong.
