Crafts Vs. Merchandise: Battle of the DS Game Cases

DS Game Pouch 1DS Game Pouch 2

Over at the NeoGaf forums, we pretty much melted at the idea of a gamer's wife who has taken the time and effort to make a tiny messenger bag for one of her husband's Nintendo DS cartridges. She even took the time to cross-stitch the legendary Mario's features onto the flap of the little pouch, as the proud husband has pointed out to the world. Ah, you could just feel the love in there. Who wouldn't want to have custom-made, one-of-a-kind game accessories or carry cases, after all?

However, since not everyone gets to be so lucky, someone else has pointed out in the same thread that a plastic DS case which can hold two cartridges instead, can be bought at the store.

Of course, some people have drawn up comparisons between the handmade gift laden with affection, and the store-bought plastic case which has been accused of being a heartless contraption, but then again, to each his own... and as I've said a while ago, not everyone gets to be so lucky and has a talented wife who appreciates your gaming habits.

Either way, what we do know is that we would LOVE to have either or both of those things. But first, we would now need to make our way to the nearest crafts store...

I just keep mine loose in my bag at the moment. If I had to go for either of those I'd go for the hand made one.

» cool, not not really worth it.

Anyone who needs a case should just buy a Game Library at Walmart. It holds my 40 DS games and is only about half full.

I assume you're talking about that binder thing to keep the games in? Yeah, I want to get one of those for the games I don't carry all the time. It holds GBA games too, so I might actually fill it up when I get one

As for me right now, I have a Hori Multi Pouch DS ( http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-b6-49-en-70-ewn.html ) for my DSphat combined with the official Nintendo 3-game cases ( http://www.pcmall.com/pcmall/shop/detail.asp?dpno=7040537&store=pcmall&source=pwbfroogle&adcampaign=email,pwbfroogle&wt.mc_id=pwbfroogle ) which lets me hold at LEAST 18 DS games, but you can get more in there if you really want to.

I used to use all Hori Slide Cases ( http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-hr-77-1-49-en-15-slide%2Bcase-70-lw2.html ), but I found that the 3-case ones stayed in the puch better and I didn't run the risk of losing them as easily. I still use a few, though to keep in the little pockets in the puch itself.

Here's a pic of all that:

» IDEAS FROM ME

use a SMINT BOX! cut a corner or two and u can hold up to 3 games! i have two. I ALSO USE an ice breakers round case to hold 3 games, but i added a light on the fold so i can see in the dark.

» hey

OR.....you can just use a classic game boy cartridge plastic case... It holds 4 ds cartridges.

Also, I made a DS Lite controller(so that its sits in bigger hands easier, and its alot more comfortable). But Im kind of torn between posting it up or not. My reasons for doing this are not personal, but for the better of the Mario kart online community, it makes snaking WAY TO EASY. And If you've ever played MK online, you know that snakers suck !!! So please let me know your opinions on this decision, I may submit pictures and instructions on QJ, but only if as a whole, it is agreed to not be a kick in the crotch to the online MK scene.

Aside from mario kart, playing games like Resident evil are much easier to control.

lmk guys, and qj, if agreed on, how do I submit this for your guys' approval?
