Kain and Raziel of Legacy of Kain fame haven't shown themselves since Defiance on the PS2, Xbox, and PC. From what I gather, there's one more game that's promised to conclude the storyline... which brings us to some good news and bad news.

The good news is a sequel's been in development for some time now. The bad news is... well, it was in development for some time now.

Mmm hmm, if you haven't heard yet, the sequel's been canceled by Crystal Dynamics, and the only thing to show for it are a handful of concept art from one Aaron Hausmann's online portfolio. From what it looks like, the graphic renders seem to be taking from the same post-gen Defiance engine.

I'm not an absolute Kain fan myself; the only one which I got to play (and thoroughly enjoyed, mind you) was Soul Reaver on the PSOne. I think it's high time we see some next-gen love from the blood-suckers though. Cross your fingers that someone picks up the rights to make this game happen in the near future!

» Legacy of Kain is a great series.

Although I didn't like Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 since they were pretty much nothing more than puzzle games, I loved Blood Omen, Blood Omen 2, and Defiance.

Defiance, although being from the creators of Soul Reaver, was an awesome game. It seems they attempted to take a note from the creators of DMC and while it wasn't as good as DMC, it was still a good game nonetheless.

» I'm sorry, but what the heck?

First of all, I really don't see how this falls under PSP news. For a moment I got all excited thinking this would SOMEHOW relate to the PSP.

Anyway, what the heck? This isn't concept art. These are screenshots from whatever remnants of the levels they made for this game that got canceled. You can't call that "concept art".

Splitting hairs, are we?

In the sense that you say they are "screenshots from whatever remnants of the levels they made," then that part is true. But the level itself CAN be considered concept art.

Generally speaking, when people say "concept art" the first thing that pops into their heads are illustrations. Drawings. Sketches. Blah.

But in this day and age, 3D renders may also be considered concept art. More over, the term "concept" in "concept art" implies that whatever is presented in the art (a character, a level, a boss, a weapon, etc) is NOT FINAL. Hence, it's still a CONCEPT. And because the game was canceled, and everything that Mr. Hausmann made got shelved, then that means his 3D renders of this level remain CONCEPT, because they were never made FINAL.

Oy vey... Aspirin please.

» Dont listen to this fool

A concept is a concept its just what he see's art what an ***** and its not just on PSP news it could have been a PSP game not a PS2 game and myabe they canned it because it was on PS2 and now goin to get the Current gen LoK going ....maybe.

Either way this would have been great, I love the entire series.

As a matter of fact I was inspired by this series to do game design, so FCK what Rickichan thinks what concept art is and its a damn shame that this had to be canceled, I wanted a Defiance sequel so bad

» No

Well xis, first of all, you can shove it.

Second of all, concept art is the depiction of an idea/design, be it three dimensional or nothing but a sketch on a canvas. The fact that these are screenshots from levels they were already working on makes it unfinished material and not concept art.

So quit the condescending act, 'kay?

And yeah, putting this under PSP news was pretty disappointing. If you can't take feedback I don't know what the comments feature is for.
