Compo Debile Dev-fr contest entries: Audition Shooter, VP_ANIS, DeadJey |
Ó
Straight from the French homebrew community forums of Dev-fr, we're treated to three entries to the recently launch Compo Debile Dev-fr development contest. These Nintendo DS homebrew games we've collected here today are just a few of the numerous candidates for the best of Dev-fr's silliest DS homebrew, but they've got quality and fun that's definitely going to snag them a spot.
First in this piece's selection is Audition Shooter - an perfect name for its theme, though you won't find any violence here. The point of homebrew developer Kram's game is that you're supposed to be an antagonistic judge in an audition session.
Silly, eh? Well, this is all for a good purpose, of course - you want only the best talent to win, so you've got to 'shoot down' the dreams of those who obviously can't dance, sing, or play any instrument.
And you do this by noting which ones have wrong notes above their heads as the performance ensues. It'll be like picking the odd one out, only now in order to do so, you've got to note their role in the performance and pick the right equipment above in order to kick them out.
Timing is key, but so is the performer's instrument orientation (right- or left-handed). Audition Shooter is definitely a must-have for fans of quick hand and eye coordination games.

Second up is VP_ANIS, which is a pretty small homebrew game that revolves all around silliness. The gameplay is relatively little in substance - so much that we can't divulge the gameplay without spoiling the game's short-lived magic.
Coder MasterDje's mini-game is an interesting option for folks who care to introduce children to simple DS gameplay, but don't keep high expectations for substantial, purposeful experiences - this is an entry for a silly homebrew competition after all.

Third and last for this piece is DeadJey, which is ToiletKing's bid for silly homebrew stardom. Players fit themselves into the shoes of a professional "Chauffeur de Salle" ("Salle driver" if our French babelizes that right) who's a friend of DeadJey - the worst platter shuffler in world history. No we're serious - we mean, Jesus Christ's bananas!
Anyways, the game pits you as a good-willed companion, so you'll be lending a helping hand to your pal so he could pass through this part of his career. If you aren't fluent in French, however, you'll find it extremely difficult to achieve most things in the game. You've been warned.
The only entry here that comes with bundled documentation is DeadJey, but the rest are straightforward in installation and loading. Try not to panic if VP_ANIS pauses at the splash screen - it'll load eventually. Try to course through whatever documentation you can get your paws on for help and bug workarounds.
