Codemasters line-up of games for 2008: focus on in-house devs

Long-running British developing and publishing company Codemasters have a lot of goodies already lined-up for everyone in the coming year.

Rod Cousens, CEO of Codemasters announced that the new titles reflect the driving grown in the North American market and will focus on content geared for the American consumer:

We hand-picked the most talented U.S. developers and made significant enhancements to Codemasters Studios and its proprietary middleware, the EGO Engine.

We saw the new strategy start to pay off this year with a 332% jump in U.S. sell through and specific success with DiRT and Overlord. Next year we will make an even greater impression on the U.S. games business.

Codemasters has already looked towards U.S. development studios such as Spark Unlimited, inXile Entertainment, and Liquid Entertainment to handle the bulk work for the titles.

The line-up of featured games span from hard-core, casual and online content across all platforms. Here's a list of titles that gamers can expect in the coming year:

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (PC, Xbox 360, PS3): a post-World War II first-person-shooter based on a "what if" scenario of a Nazi invasion of New York City and occupation of America (Developer: Spark Unlimited - Q1 2008)
Emergency Mayhem (Wii): Frantic driving game based on emergency missions in a colourful cartoon-style city. (Developer: Supersonic - Q2 2008)
Hei$t (PC, Xbox 360, PS3): Action/driving game with complex bank robbery/getaway scenarios set in San Francisco, circa 1969. (Developer: inXile Entertainment - Q2 2008)
GRID (PC, Xbox 360, PS3): All-new racing game based on the multi-million seller Race Driver series. (Developer: Codemasters Studios - Q2 2008)
Rise of the Argonauts (PC, Xbox 360, PS3): Paradigm shifting role-playing game based on the epic story of Jason as he searches for the Golden Fleece. (Developer: Liquid Entertainment - Q3 2008)
Dragonology (Wii, DS): Magical interactive story from the book based on the study and conservation of dragons. (Developer: Kuju/SixbyNine - Q4 2008)
Wizardology (Wii, DS): Story based on the book that was allegedly written by Merlin himself and full of spells and magical information. (Developer: Kuju/SixbyNine - Q4 2008)
Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising (PC, Xbox 360 PS3): Military simulator meets first person shooter in a fictitious conflict with the potential to erupt onto a global scale. (Developer: Codemasters Studios - TBD)

Asides from this, Codemasters will continue supporting the MMO games it is currently handling. To date, Codemasters Online operates three MMO games worldwide: RF Online, Archlord, and The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadow of Angmar.
