I don't see where all this EA hate comes from. I've been playing EA games back since the PC Need for Speed days.



Even now I like a lot of their games they publish or create. Most Wanted, Army of Two, Orange Box, Rock Band, NHL xx, Madden xx.



Is there something I'm missing because I always see EA hate but I love their games.

Who cares if they buy someone out? EA is keeping the Console wars alive, by making half assed games for the worst console ever...XBox 360. Third party bull$hit. Microsoft will discontinue the 360 soon.

We can't argue with EA'S success. But they monopolize the game industry so they have no competitors. This keeps the video game industry alive I think not. Nba live always sucks every year madden is the same every year. They buy official rights to sports licenses so they can only make their *****. What happens in the game of monopoly you buy out everyone loses you have all this money but no more players. They are evil they rush all their games and put them on every system. EA ports there all the same. Just how everyone complains about wal mart the only way EA will go away if we stop buying their products. Every disc Microsoft puts out is a dual layer dvd, 8 gig disc, Blu Rays are RUGGED, don't scratch..

the problem with PS3 is that the 360 is holding it back. It could offer a LOT more graphically, and storage wise. But since publishers are only worried about getting the game out it seems they code them ALL for 360, then port it to PS3. So in the end, even though PS3 could handle more graphics and more sound and more content it just doesnt, because then they would have to make the game twice.



The Wii is only getting 3rd party games because they can port all the PSP games straight over to it and give it motion controls. That why MOST of the half assed games on Wii are usually better on PSP. I own a PSP and a Wii. If its a 3rd person game Ill get it for the PSP every time. The Wii specific games are usually decent.



The ONLY reason MS has money to THROW at the 360 is because they do OTHER things as well. Its no secret they are losing MILLIONS of $$$ on the 360, and I am sure if they cant start to turn a profit on that soon they will shut the doors on the project. They cant keep taking money from their OS sales to put the 360 on life support. It does not make sense.



Now, on to the EA thing. People hate a company that succeeds. This is not new. Everyone bashes on MS and Bill gates because he has money and the things he cant make he just buys the company that does, Disney does the same thing with animation studios (mononoke hime anyone?), Walmart does a similar strategy but most people dont see that end of it. In Canada people hate Telus (cell phones) because they bought out a few companies to become the biggest in canada.



If you look at it from EA's perspective you would not see the problem. In this Business world you eaither buy out other companies to make your own bigger, or you get bought out. EA wants to be pro active with their business so rather than being bought out, they are buying out. Most of the guys who are on the "hate on EA" bandwagon have got a RECENT EA title in their collection. Maybe their whole collection is EA? So, they notice this and think that negative attention will convince others that they suck and not support them. If you guys REALLY think their games suck, then dont buy them. But I bet you there are enough people who do NOT read on here that will go buy ANY new EA game that your couple missed sales will NOT effect them enough to do anything about it.

The 360 is beginning to meet it's end, I mean with the disc size limit and all, the ps3 is prepared for it (blu-ray), and the Wii, Ok, does it really matter, everyone wants one of those damn controllers.

Perfect example of the 360 holding games back: id Software's RAGE. Because of the 360's limitations they changed the entire game so it could be limited to 2 discs. I mean come on, the game was suppose to have like 5 or so wastelands and now its all been consolidated into 2 just because of the 360.

there outselling but they have not sold as much yet. The PS3 is outselling the 360 in America but they havnt sold as much yet either. Microsoft is greedy because the 360 that they have for 199 is very crappy and u have to buy accessories for it in order to play online via wifi...face it u end up paying more for a 199 360 than an 80 gb PS3 in the long run...oh did I mention that u lose warranty if u change 360 hardrive

the last decent game made by ea i played was medal of honour on ps1. the reality is ea started out like any small company does tryes to get into the market has success try to expand and forgets what got them there and becomes a power hungry corporation end result= a company called ellectronic arts that will stop at nothing to be the only developer left and to release cheap crap for us mugs to get there.

Dumb @$$. Valve is more PC oriented with their games so its easier for them to port to the 360 that much is obvious. They relied on EA to port The Orange Box to PS3 because they're unfamiliar with the PS3 SDK and needed the game out with the rest of the release. EA dropped the ball plain and simple. And besides.. if Valve is sleeping with Microsoft then why are they working on porting Steam and the Steam Engine to Linux and Mac?

The reason Microsoft discontinued the original Xbox is because the 360 had came out. It was also losing them a lot of money due to the fact that it cost more to make it than what they were selling it for.



The 360 is far from being discontinued. Games like Halo 3 and Gears of War (and many, many others) will keep that console alive for a very long time. Sure the disc space doesn't compare to the PS3, but that won't stop people from buying 360 games. But, Blu-ray access is insanley slow. That is why you see games having to put data on the PS3's HDD just so they can load faster. I personally think the PS3 is far more powerful in almost every way. Oh and Hudley the Wii has plenty of accessories to buy to. You still have to buy rechargable batteries, a charge station, 3 different types of controllers to play some games, and it does charge you for everything (except online, and if you can't pay $7 bucks a month to have a great online service then. . . well I don't know). It also doesn't burn up because It isn't half as powerful therefore the motherboard doesn't warp. The PS3 also has heat issues but there not as bad as the 360. I also don't believe the 360 has awful graphics. Most games look absolutley stunning. And in many ways 360 games set the bar for what games should play, look, and be like. All in all every console has its ups and downs.



Time to get on topic now. . .

Epic will never be bought out by EA because they won't let it happen. There just to good of a company to even think about selling themselves especially since they keep coming out with profitable, smash hit games. Also as the article states, EA is just looking into Epic's company. They haven't started writing out the giant checks. . . yet.

Freedom? --You remember that concept? You make it sound like EA is a docile little innocent: "All EA is trying to do is expand..." Yes, and when they do, they will eventually find the top-paid developers in their 'expansions', lay them off, and install cheaper, less creative resources. Maybe not right away, but we all know that's the way corporations work when all they do is "expand" ---just "common sense". Look, every now and again EA puts out some good stuff. I mean, they HAVE already purchased some good studios, so they're bound to have some quality along the way. But, if they're only focus is really "who to buy", what's the point of their existence? ---Look I remember EA back in the 3DO days. WAY different operation from today. Some of the stuff they did back then was *REALLY* what one might call a 'gamble'; and they were doing it be putting they're own money and creativity on the line, not by buying someone else's.

Stay away from Valve games on consoles.

In the Sept 2008 issue of Edge magazine, Jerry Johnson (MS Product Mgr for 360) stated that, "We have a strong hardcore base, but want to go from 12 million to 30 million users." This was in an extensive article discussing their impending new Mii-like Xbox Experience desktop revision. .....What do you think MS will do if this doesn't get them to their magic "30 Million" number in a couple of years? Everyone is counting Sony's 'Home' as 'down-for-the-count' even before it's released, but I don't see how 'hardcore gamers' would rather run cutesy avatars around the screen rather than PS3's fully-customizable avatars. And, PS3 has generally been capable of holding its own well in sales (considering it's priced higher and doesn't have the 1yr lead in available game title catalog.) MS will 'cut-and-run' as they always do when they don't hit their mark. Heck, they might even be buying someone else's technology right now in order to have their 'backup plan' if 360 fails to achieve their lofty goals.

That if they do get Epic, EA probably won't license the Unreal 3 engine to anyone so they can keep it to themselves and that would be the worst out come; look at how many games rely on the Unreal 3 engine.

For all the people complaining the PS3 is being held back by the 360, should think back to the PS2 and Xbox.



The xbox was the technically superior, hard drive and networking as standard, better graphics, better processor, yeah you had to buy a dvd remote to play dvd's but that was about the only extra you had to pay for.

This is paralleled now by the PS3; technically superior, hard drive and hdmi as standard, better graphics, better processor, blu-ray.



The PS2 had sales the Xbox could only dream of and an army of 3rd party developers designing games around it architecture. The Xbox got lame crappy ports which didnt push its hardware too much.

I agree 100%. Xbox 360 was great, with the exception of heat failure but it was a great console with spectacular online play. My PS3 is equally as great and would love to see a Gear of War version on it as I would very much like to get to see what I am missing. No fanboy-ism needed!

PS3 is the leading platform on alot of newer games.....and if you look at newer games they look identical and some run better on PS3 (Force unleashed according to IGN).....it's just devs need to learn, that's all....in the begining they were just trying to get shyt working and out the door, then build on it for latter releases (they being every dev)



It's BS to say 360 holds back PS3, because MGS4 only supports dolby digital, which maxes out at 5.1.....so where is the 7.1 that PS3 can support (not that I care, cause I only have 5.1) point is, does this mean it really will be ported to 360 ? No, 7.1 isn't really that much of a difference, doesn't have alot of people using it, and is extra work....so, leave it out....

Blu Ray access is not slow at all...and storing game data on the HDD are for cut scenes..NO LOAD TIMES IN GAME LOL.....

Playstation 3 loads games just as fast as anything..TOO bad you got screwed by MICROSOFT. Playstation has no heat problems...Xbox 360 has a 33% failure rate due to heat problems...and the power box is external....



Back up your hardware.software, and games...doesn't matter...Xbox 1080 is coming..and Playstation 3 was going to be atop anyway
