Halo DS? No way - Image 1The rumor mill is hot on the Halo DS project after Matt Casamassina testified about the existence of Halo on Nintendo's handheld, and IGN promised to talk about a demo they were able to get their hands on. Website Siliconera was able to get some clarification from Bungie's Brian Gerard and Frank OÂ’Connor regarding the matter.

Straight from Bungie's community guy himself, "...there has never been an officially funded or sanctioned development of any sort of DS Halo game."

Before that, Bungie.net's content monkey Frank O'Connor did state that "we got pitched for it several times."That said, it's "very likely that somebody at some point in time created a prototype."

Halo on handhelds is possible, but O'Connor doesn't think an FPS would be a good idea given the hardware limitations. A scrolling shoot 'em up or some other form Master Chief can appear in is more feasible for the DS, he said.

Here's another fun thought from the interview: Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa could actually appear in Halo's universe. "I'm not going to say you're going to see Ryu in Halo, but I would say that our relationship with Itagaki is alive and well," O'Connor replied when asked about Ryu making a cameo appearance.

» My take

I can't beieve bungie sometimes. You don't take a turd on a dimond and let it sit in the toilet. Obviously there are contract issues with ms. But think about how much money that game would be worth. Ms does lisence games for ds on occasion (zoo keeper). But f they were smart, they would try to work something out with Ms and attempt to get a prototype going. Not the fabled rumor one, that sits by the water cooler next to DNF. I'm talking something that can show us what the ds can do. On a rare occasion, ive seen ds at its prime. Fps games can work with ds with a lot of debugging. Take the new game dementium the ward. From the short video interview i saw of that game. It was probably the most decent looking fps handheld in a while. Not to mention that beside a little shakyness, The graphics were stunning. Not cartoony either. Real looking graphics. Truthfully if they made condemmed for the n64 it would have look like that. But back on topic the ds has power that goes unutilized by developers. People know only what they see. So they see a game as crappy looking as king kong and assume thats all it can do. But if you look at ps3 and remember the tech demos and play beyond commercials, you know that it has amazing graphics but they are no where near being used. So if anyon important reads this, take in to consideration trying to do this title. Make halo Ds a reality!

» ahhh dex

halo is simple but at the same time tacticle. thats what makes it fun. I like nintendo but judging by your disgruntled rage, your a full blown nintendo lover.

» Why?

Given Halo's popularity (whether he likes it or not), if Dex was a full-blown Nintendo lover, he'd LOVE do see Halo on the DS. Who says he doesn't just dislike Halo, simple as that?

» Right

And I bet you don't buy MS products because "they all ready have enough money". And you wear black clothes because it's "different", even though every other person who thinks it's cool to be a non-conformist does it.

I bet you couldn't name more than a few FPSs that are truly better than Halo. Go on, try. Make me laugh
