Sagrada Guardians

4 Color Rebellion was able to interview Elder Prince, owner of Blossom Soft, about their biggest project in development, Sagrada Guardians (a.k.a. Western Lords), which is a 2D RPG originally developed for the GBA.

Sagrada Guardians was started in 2004, but the team at Blossom Soft predicts that the game would finally be on the shelves by 2008. According to Mr. Prince, this is their priority project for now, though they also have Rhapsody on Rails and Oracle in the works.

Prince is keeping hush-hush about some details of the project, but he reveals that the game should be reminiscent of many other great RPGs, but that they are also "going to bring some very cool innovations." He adds that Sagrada Guardians would "offer a great visual experience" for gamers. He also says the they want the game to be "remembered as the last best RPG seen on the Nintendo DS."

There would be seven playable characters in the GBA version while the DS version will have eight, with players being able to use three characters at a time. Each character has an agenda so players who love intermingling storylines are bound to get hooked. The game will also feature a "Free Will" battle system.

Prince has also expressed his interest in developing for the Wii's Virtual Console and the PS3, though their top priority is still Sagrada Guardians. We're at the edge of our seats for Blossom Soft to release new info, so for the meantime, here's some screens of their work in progress. Though still a bit empty, holds promise for RPG lovers out there.

Hope it's half-decent. Twilight Princess was such a let down... I need to go beat Link to the Past again...
