Rumor - Ghostbusters Picked Up By Atari, Still A Word on the street is that The Ghostbusters video game (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS) was picked up by Atari, but still won't be released till next year.

How many more months before I can toast the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? Gah, so sad.

The news came from Dan Aykroyd himself when he spoke at the Dallas radio station 105.3 KLLI. Good to hear that the game found itself a publisher after Activision Blizzard left it high and dry in video game limbo.

On a side note, it's also good to see that Atari isn't limiting itself to online gaming yet, as it promised to do so last month. If Ghostbusters becomes a hit (and I'm sure it will), perhaps things may even turn around for them.

» sweet news!

i thought for a moment, this one was going to fade away, without a publisher.

and you know atari is going to do it's best for this game, for they have an empire to rebuild.

I look forward to this one!

mad props for the post...

» Atari?

..I thought they were now committed to a "small downloadable game" future for PSN/XBL. :-O

Oh, well: there goes that strategy! (Actually, that's fine by me. Atari games get a lot of critical flak, but tend to be quite good next-gen games. I'd be happy to see them continue with full-release games.)
