Jade Raymond, producer of Assassin's Creed, has mentioned the possibility of making an installment of Assassin's Creed for handhelds.

Raymond wants to create a game that will fully take advantage of the benefits inherent to handheld gaming. "We want to make a real plan where you can make a game, you make a book, you know, maybe other types of portable games that have complementary experiences,"  said Raymond.

Currently, the game has only been announced for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 but Assassin's Creed is also expected to hit other platforms such as the PC. Interestingly enough, GameStop even has a listing of a DS version of Assassin's Creed on its website. Hmm.

Right

Because retailer websites are always such a fount of good, factual information. Get real. Those sites will list anything to get your attention and to get you giving them money. Unless Ubisoft comes out and says that the game is being released on such-and-such a platform, I aint trusting it. Even then, I'm skeptical until I can walk into the store and buy it myself.
