Doug Creutz with Cowen and Company believe, through their research note that Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS) will sell 5.5 million copies during its lifetime in the US. Good news or bad? Apparently, this is a 32.4% year-on-year decline from Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare (PS3, Xbox 360, PC). In 2007, Modern Warfare sold over 7 million units worldwide and earned a formidable 88 rating on Metacritic.

Despite having big shoes to fill, World at War will have a lot to be glad about. "Given the strong ratings and demand indicators, we think World at War could deliver meaningful upside to our current statements," Creutz added. "Our independent channel checks confirm high demand for the game." In fact, World at War was tied with Guitar Hero: World Tour at #1 for "most likely to purchase title this holiday season."

» Shouldn't have.....

Well, EA shouldn't have given the new engine to Activision because now there just going to ruin it like they did Call of Duty 3. EA should have just gone with COD Modern Warfare 2 in my opinion. Everyone would have been alot happier.

» EA?

CoD isn't an EA game ;) it never was!

CoD:WaW is a CoD4 modification, nothing more :(

an addon for CoD4 would be a lot better :/

» Let me fix what I said

Ok EA didn't make them what ever (Infinity Ward) my bad. I'm still making the point that the people who developed COD 1 and 2 did COD 4, reason why they didn't suck. Someone else made COD3 and now there using the engine that was used in COD 4 to make World at War. So really there just doing it again and molding a *****ty game from a game that should have stayed the way it was.

» ugh

The entire CoD series was old, WWII style games. That's why people liked them. Modern warfare was too out of it, breaking the loop completely. CoD should have stayed how it was, old fashion, like it originally was.

» mission 1 comparison....

CoD4 was fresh, new, tight with a twist at the end.

CoD Waw was... usual WW2 mission with no surprise what so ever. Nothing even compare to the first Russian mission in CoD1

I didn't go very far so I hope there will be some surprises.

I am in only for the zombie coop play.

» which is why

Modern Warfare was more praised than any other Call of Duty game by critics and sold more than any other Call of Duty and surpassed even Halo 3 on Xbox Live for the most amount of players. Yeah sure they should have stuck with WWII.... because now they went back they can now expect lower sales then Modern Warfare.
