Crystal Ball - Image 1 If the analysts turn out right, then we just might see the fourth consecutive sales decline in the June results of NPD, and then we'll see that price cut happen. Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan and Jesse Divinich of EEDAR are synonymous in saying that sales will most likely be down by around 20-23%.

Pachter predicts that the US software sales will be down by 23%, from last year's US$ 876 to US$ 670. He also foresees that there will be a 43% year-on-year combined unit sales decline for the consoles.

Meanwhile, Divinich's forecasts aren't too far-off from Pachter's. Divinich predicts that there will be a 20% decrease to an estimated US$ 697. He also expects hardware unit sales for the consoles to go down by 33% over last year.

The drop in the software sales can be attributed to the lack of solid games that has been released as of late, while the hardware sales are obviously affected by the general economic situation.

How accurate will their predictions be? We'll find out on Thursday when the NPD results for the month of June gets released.

EEDAR June software sales predictions follow:

  • Prototype (Activision Blizzard, Xbox 360, 450,000 units)
  • Fight Night Round 4 (EA, Xbox 360 390,000 units)

Really... I dont get why people with a PS3 would buy Prototype over Infamous. I mean, clearly if you want the most out of your console, you would always want the exclusives over multiplatform games. Reviews everywhere scored Infamous as a better game... and visually, Infamous was clearly superior in terms of graphics (the buildings in Prototype look like boxes to me).. just my opinion.

» Not just the lack of good games

It's not just the lack of good games that's affecting the game market, it's also the fact that America is in a recession with over 9.5% of people out of work.

» There both wrong

Clearly the two are not avid gamers, which is something they should be to get insight. The only reason it's down so much is because theres nothing to buy literally a drought of games.

There won't be an upturn in games till the minimum next month then it should increase steadily till Christmas, then there should be a significant surge.

WOW... all I stated was that I was suprised to see Prototype on the list and not Infamous... but I guess me being suprised about that is WRONG! because I'm not an avid gamer! so I deserve no insight at all!. Geez some of you guys are brutal. You going to throw me in hell too just for me being suprised over the popularity between two games? its just opinions guys! lets not get the panties in a bunch.
