Akihabara's gaming retro store - ahh, the nostalgia |
The nostalgia we find in retro games in Virtual Console seems to pale in the face of a particular store in Akihabara in Tokyo, Japan. What does it sell? Probably all the retro games older gamers played during their formative years.
We assume the store is pretty hard to miss. The store is spans three storeys and pretty much advertises for itself with window art. One giant Mario, Pacman, and even a screenshot of Castlevania. A giant Mario statue welcomes customers into the store. Within lies a number of retro consoles (Famicom, Family Computer Disk System, and the Super Famicom), plus shelves upon shelves of the good old cartridges. Their other merchandise include a Nintendo wristwatch, a Super Mario clock (with the fire obstacle as the second counter) and a Homer.
Whoa. Talk about retro. According to Tokyo Times (who visited the store), there's even a small arcade on the top floor. This can most possibly be considered gamer heaven by a whole lot of older gamers.
