Activision and Vivendi's decision to merge into Activision Blizzard caught many gamers unaware, and now some insiders from the gaming industry point towards a possible information leak as the main reason why the announcement was delivered in a hasty manner.

Most are wondering why the deal was created and announced at short notice, prompting the circulation of some rumors about the abruptness of the merge announcement. The alleged information leak, according to industry sources, may have forced the deal-brokers to ink the deal earlier than expected.

One of the sources mentioned that some of the activities in the Activision and Vivendi offices were cancelled to make way for company-wide meetings that were announced quite suddenly.
