Burger King Hero 5 - Image 1During a conference showcasing game line ups in the hopes of netting some sweet in-game advertising money, Activision Blizzard confirmed that they'll be making Guitar Hero 5, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and that the rumors about the upcoming Tony Hawk being "different" were true.

Admittedly, nothing terribly surprising, but it's good to know all the same.

Guitar Hero 5 was confirmed when a gameplay screenshot was showcased with a burger king advert tucked away to the right of the on-screen guitar neck.

Acti-Bliz also confirmed that the new Tony Hawk game will "not be played with a controller in your hands." I'm going to assume they're talking about one's legs or feet as the only remaining appendages make for difficult gameplay. The game will be coming out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS sometime in October of next year.

As for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2... it will exist. That's all Acti-Bliz had to say on the matter.

» wtf

we have it on our phones

we have it on our tv

we have it on our FM Radios

and now we going to have it on Video Games.

If I wanted to see advertisement. I just go on my NXE. If they really going to do this atleast have 50 percent off when we buy the damn game

or I just not going buy the game at all.

» Agreed!

If we have to bear with commercials in our videogames, we should at least be compensated. Silly really. Though sometimes it *is* done tastefully.

» PO'ed

WoW this is by far not suprising in game, on tv, on people(Tattoo's), on clothes, next they'll be letting you order pizza right from your xbox just like they have on the tivo.

Anyway, Binary is right if we have to see ads in game, games shouldn't cost so much, if they had any since they would lower the price to maybe $30.00 and then more people would be able to afford all these new games and sales would skyrocket ..... Maybe. It can't cost to much to make the case book and disc, they still would make a profit,

Corp. America is just to D*** Greedy! Greedy! I Say lol

Yeah it doesn't cost much to make the case, book and disk, but maybe you're forgetting about, um, the game itself? Most games have a budget of upwards of 10 million dollars (10 mil is cheap for a game nowadays), and many cost much more than that (some 100 million). If sales don't skyrocket at $30, then no, they will not make anywhere near a profit.

I would only expect the cost of retail games to go up, not down, along with advertisements. $70 in the near future, and boatloads of ads.

» think of it this way

maybe adds in games will keep the price down. By making money off ads studios won't have to rely as much on the consumer to fork out more money. The cost of developing games is most likely going to increase as newer more complex game engines and/or hardware comes out. The only way to keep prices down around the $60 range is to get another means of income besides games game sales.

» Hey...

They spelt it Acti-Blizz in the article title and Acti-Bliz at the end of the article...not that it matters, just pointing it out. Btw, I don't care about in game advertisements. Did anyone notice all of the KFC advertisements in Guitar Hero World Tour? Barely enough to even notice.

» Yep...

I did. I also noticed "I'm a PC" ads in GH3 in the background. *VERY* frustrating +-(
