3DS will target hardcore gamers - Iwata |

Believe it, the 3DS will be targeting hardcore gamers. This was the battlecry of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata as he talked to Nikkei. According to him, they are planning on working closely with developers to "expand into elaborate games." All for, yes, you, serious gamer.
While he admits that most of the DS line-up of games have been for non-game players, he remains firm in his belief that the steps they took to move the graphics and gameplay forward will be changing this characterization soon.
And they're well on their way with that, too, as they've already confirmed that a Metal Gear Solid 3D title will be coming, as well as a Resident Evil game. Hard core.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I do NOT believe graphics make a game interesting. Maybe initially more appealing, but some games have the best graphics ever and suck. Vice City has awful (by today's standards) graphics and "physics" and stuff. It's still great. Chrono Trigger is 2D, still amazing. Pokemon is 2D, still amazing.. As long as they don't have block heads, I'm good

i agree except that comment about pokemon--that game is mucho borang

You point out some solid things thats for sure! and I can agree that Graphics don't make the game, but I have to agree with Iwata for improving the system to be capable of greatly expanding the possibilties that the 3DS will do. Slide Pad, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, 3D! and thats just what was added! Nintendo isn't just dropping a Graphics powered system! They giving alot for the developer to work and be creative with! There is alot that litte DS we wish we could do, so I do believe that we'll see many many of what we love about the Nintendo DS Implemented on the 3DS!

The only reason to own the psp was for hardcore games and of course Monster Hunter Series. Now, that Nintendo has taken a stance directly to implement this on their NEW tech, there is no reason to own the competition's older tech based handheld.
I will purchase this machine on DAY ONE.

Stop speaking out of your ass until it's out and a decent number of games are available.

I can't (and yes I got 5 fingers per arm as well)
Now as for the other consoles...if you remove ALL regenerative health games, how many hardcore 360 and PS3 games remain? Really, how many games you need to REPLAY stuff when you die instead of respawning you very close to where you died?
But when blaster master comes out, it gets trashed because it's too "archaic". Bloody "hardcore" wannabes.

Idiots. Mario was, and always will be a hardcore platformer. Galaxy 2 was one of the best games I've played in a while, it was a fresh take off of the tens of shooters that get released. The 3DS will be a fantastic portable game console, seeing as I have gotten a chance to use one at E3.
The 3D effect is pretty cool, but they have to develop it more.
ALSO! There is a charity event going on right now, where these people play mario non stop. You donate money to make them go to the next level of the next mario game, so far they've played over 700 different levels of all the mario games. All money goes to childsplay! Spread the word to as many people as you can, this is a fantastic event.

You don't have to donate, but just tell other people! They need as much money as they can get here. I always donate to childs-play, since I'm an avid gamer. I want the kids who are locked up in hospitals and have a gloomy outlook on life to have fun for once, and it makes me feel good knowing that I gave a couple kids games to play. Thank you!
