2. 3DS data transfer systems

Still have old DSiWare purchases from your old DS? Worry not, the eShop will let you transfer those games to your 3DS. Nintendo hasn't detailed how exactly this is to happen, but the online service also seems to have a wireless data transfer functionality.

In the 3DS' second firmware update, Nintendo will enable the transfer of downloaded software between two 3DS system. Again, they haven't discussed when and how this would be possible, but the publisher did say that the number of transfers you can make will be limited.

What they did go into detail on is an accessible user interface. Since the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop were based on internet browser technology, Iwata believed that they were slow and not very user-friendly. Building from that experience, they promise a major redesign to make sure their digital offerings won't be obscured like before.

Speaking of digital offerings, the eShop will also have a section called "3DS Classics." Here, you can download old NES titles, like those demoed back in E3, and these will be playable in 3D.

"Nintendo of America, however, said that it won't"

When was that? The last we heard a spokes person for NOA said, we'll let you know later.

"Nintendo president clarified that the eShop will be going live all over the world in May"

What happened to it going live on release?

JP February 26, 2011
EU March 25, 2011
NA March 27, 2011
AUS March 2011

"According to Nintendo of Europe, the eShop will be ready by the time the 3DS launches."

So in EU the store is going to launch in March and May?

It's good the 3DS has full backward compatibility, except the games that need the GBA slot.
