With the launch of the 3DS just literally around the corner, the other thing that's preoccupying the minds of gamers would be the software line-up. Not to worry, though. Nintendo has released a public service announcement giving you a rundown of the first 18 games.

i agree with good ol' reggie. hardware is only as good as the software. so, which of these launch day line-ups for the 3ds are you most looking forward to have? do you think it's a strong line-up?

Well, we all have preferences, so undoubtedly there are some genres some of us would rather see than others.

By definition, a strong software line-up is a list of games that have the best chance of reaching the broadest consumer base in order to strengthen the future influence of the particular device. I'd say that this isn't bad. Of course, I'd like to see more "hardcore" games on this list, stuff like Metal Gear Solid and the like, but I only have so much money to spend.

Let's look at it this way: Let's assume you're a day one customer. Nintendo doesn't expect you to buy each and every title, they probably expect at most that you'll buy three games, but let's be safe and assume you're buying 1-2 games.

I think a day one customer (that is, someone who really likes the system or is a die-hard Nintendo fan) would be hard-pressed to find that there weren't at least two games they'd want.

For me, personally, I'd go with SSFIV3D and Nintendog+Cats, no question. The previous versions of these games were both fantastic and provided more than their fare share of entertainment value.

That's my two cents.

Layton games are pretty lame.

I was looking forward Kid Icarus, but current screenshots look like a PSP game.

"Layton games are pretty lame."

As always, your "opinion" is proven to be worthless:

http://kotaku.com/#!5772207/so-what-was-the-most-popular-3ds-launch-game

And I quote...

"As for the most popular game, that honour went to Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle, which shifted 117,589 copies."

So while YOU think it's lame, the rest of the world does not. It just so happens to be the #1 selling launch title in Japan.

That's nice, but I think most people aren't interested in the mediocre 3DS launch lineup.
that's my two cents

I was thinking of getting both the PSP 2 and 3DS, but I doubt I'll pick one of these up if these are the games that it's coming out.

LEGO SW 3 The Clone Wars & Ridge Racer 3D look interesting. but i'd rather see what they will have for their virtual handheld service & i'd like to know if people who passed up dsi for this can still buy dsiware titles on it not just transfer licences.

I admit it is better than the original DS launch but still, looks like I'm going to wait a few months before buying the 3DS

Rayman 2 and OOT FTW but thanks Nintendo fpr doing what you do best, releasing the same game with a slightly different title, "improved" graphics and a full price tag

All these launch titles are just not my cup of tea... To be honest, none of the titles announced so far(up to the end of June) interested me...
Anyhow, I've already preordered a 3DS

Yes, I too think those games suck. Since I have a PS3 and an arcade stick I'll obviously not buy this "new" version, but Nintendo fans will enjoy it. I'll be buying my 3DS at launch, but will only play it when either Cave Story, or that other flying-shooting-dog game (from the developer of sonic) comes out. BTW am I the only person that think that the first game most people will play on their 3DS will be Pokemon Black and White?

im going to get rayman and SW. maybe pilotwings latter on. i think this isnt a bad launch line up. not the greatest but there are alot of games on the list. either im getting one first day. i still have alot of games that i need to play from the DS. DQ9 and golden sun. and lets not forget Pokemon White

This reminds me of the DS launch lineup. There was ridge racer, the sims, rayman, and star wars 3.
I hope the games get better than this.....
