Apparently a White Knight Chronicles save doesn't just get you extra items in White Knight Chronicles 2. Level-5 have revealed that a clear save from the original is required (!) in order to play the sequel.

Note that you need a clear data file, not just some random save file. Those who don;t have it will be forced to play the original before going on to the sequel. The good thing is that White Knight Chonicles 2 comes packed with a tweaked and updated copy of the original.

Those who do have a clear save, however, will be given two choices: either start over completely from the beginning of White Knight Chronicles or continue on to White Knight Chronicles 2. Picking the first option drops you back to level 1 but will let you keep your items and equipment. If you choose to start the sequel your character will drop to below level 35.

Not a bad idea for those who haven't played the original yet.

It may be seem as an attempt to "force" sales of the first game. They are walking in "quicksand" territory as people may go with the idea or not.

Have you actually read the article?

It says that the second game will come with an upgraded version of the first.

Seeing as how the first one sucked ass, I'll be passing on the sequel.

The worst idea ever was thought of a long time ago, and then Level 5 came and surpassed it. Greatly.

I refuse to play the first game! I will never do it!

Giving out a (relatively) free copy of the first game, with improvements, but making you play both games in order, is a bad idea?

What?

If you don't have interest in WKC1, why would you even be interested in 2 in the first place?

get people to know the story instead of people just playing the second one. As long as it still costs 60 dollars it would be good. Two games for the price of one though the first one is pretty old.

Its awesome for those of us who beat it, but man.....i couldnt imagine having to force my way through that story again. Worst story mode in a RPG i have ever played in my life.

Even the ending was like a giant middle finger to the face.

I've got mixed feelings about this. What if the sequel is awesome? You'll still have to play through the crappy first one (I've heard it's crappy, but I haven't played it myself) to get to it.

Still, it's hard to argue with a 2 for 1 deal, especially when they've updated the original. Either way, I don't think I'll get it. I keep planning on renting wkc to see if the bad reviews are right, but I just haven't cared enough to get around to it.
