Wealthier households more likely to get movie-based video games

kidsplayingVideo games that accompany movies have long had an invisible "Don't buy" category for gamers. That didn't happen by accident, reviews and past experiences would tell you that coming near that shelf is a bad idea. Still, publishers still keep making them and apparently, people still buy them. Now who'd want to waste their money on shovelware? Those who can.

According to a survey conducted by market research firm, Nielsen, households that do buy movie-based games tend to be of some wealth, averaging at the US$ 70,000 a year bracket. Having kids aged 6-12 also contributes to the likelihood of purchase.

Additionally, the survey also found that more non-Caucasians, particularly Asians and Hispanics, were also more inclined to purchase the games.

Well, they've got the extra cash, don't they? To each his own.

a lot of rich people are smart. maybe not smart in your books, but smart enough to invest in some way to get on the way to becoming rich.. and I'm not talking about people who inherit, like paris hilton, who is a moron.

Have you ever stopped and considered how much money Paris has made on her own? If I recall, her grandfather stripped away her inheritance, and she's made herself millions since then. You've bought into her act, hook-line-and-sinker.
