There are quite a lot of great titles incoming this March, but as soon as the month checks in, we'll be treated to the PSN release of PixelJunk Shooter 2. That's this Tuesday, March 1st, 2011. If you loved the original, then that ought to be good news, for the rest, you can check out a couple of gameplay vids first to help you decide.

Single-player gameplay

PixelJunk Shooter 2 is the first in Q-Games' PixelJunk series to receive an actual sequel. This isn't an Encore release, it's an entirely new game. So new, in fact, that Dylan Cuthbert mentioned that there will be features in this game that are new to the PixelJunk franchise. There will be a few of those, plus more content, new bosses, and the addition of an online multiplayer battle mode.

Multiplayer gameplay

In this PvP mode, players will be switching roles between the rescuer and the hunter. While one guy goes retrieving pods, the other guy will come after you to make sure that doesn't happen. You will be fighting in various asymmetrical maps and will be scored depending on the success of your objective.

As always, you will enjoy the same mild, light-hearted feel of a PixelJunk game, presented of course, in glorious HD. Q-Games notes that this sequel will be much bigger than its predecessor, so that means more playtime for you. Look for PixelJunk Monsters 2 on US PlayStation Store on March 1st, then Europe gets it the day after.
