Venezuelan president: PlayStation is Poison |
Listed in: PSP, PS3 Tags: gamer talk
Ó
While US president Barrack Obama has been heard many times telling people to cut down on the games for more productive activity, another commander-in-chief takes a different angle at gaming. Much different. According to Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, games lead players further down the "road to hell", specifically attacking the PlayStation brand for being "poison."

Oh cool, a Hidden Mickey!
The anti-game tirade was made during Chavez's weekly radio show, where he also pointed out that games contribute to society's ills. Specifically, he mentioned drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes, hence the "road to hell" comment. The Venezuelan president also voiced that he wanted his country to produce only educational games.

That's two things we shouldn't trust for news. A socialist or a dictator.

Wow, amazing how everyone love to blame video games. I bet you his son (if he has one that is) has a gaming console and plays it endlessly, but yet he wants to say this.

I'm thinking more that with his hate for the US and anything stateside, maybe he doesn't know the Playstation is from Japan?

How is playing video games any more evil/unproductive then watching tv/movies/sports? Or even reading a book for that matter? Yes, reading can be productive, but reading something like Twilight? I think not.

Unfortunatly, for Venezuela, entertainment is wholly controlled by the government and Hugo Chavez. They used to be private companies that could show what they wanted, but he (Chavez) has forced the newspapaers, TV stations and radio stations to become government controlled, and show what he wants... Which as in the case with dictators, is... him.

In the 60's comic books were blamed for delinquency among the youth. Now it's video games. When you are young you make mistakes and do things you probably shouldn't. That's what it means to be young.

we have no freedom... our freedom is settled by the worlds government... the government hold us in their hands... we, the folk, are just henchmen for the government to fulfill their own dreams by living a life they have already chosen for us, at the moment we were born into this cursed world... the dreams we have are just dreams that the government has created for us... our true dream is not for what the media is responsable... cus OUR TRUE N REAL Humanity DREAM is it to be free... and live a life in a world that is called "FREEDOM"... n not a world like these days; called "DEMOCRACY"...
i think the religions are part of the governments...
