As expected, two more key developer's of the Call of Duty franchise has left the studio, following the earlier departure of Infinity Ward bosses Vince Zampella and Jason West over allegations of "breaches of contract and insubordination".

Kotaku is reporting that lead software engineer Francesco Gigliotti and Todd Alderman, a lead designer and one of the key personnel involved in Modern Warfare's multiplayer and story line has both left the studio this week, a month after the two key figures of the studio was sacked by Activision. According to the game site:

The circumstances under which Alderman and Gigliotti left the studio are unclear, though a source close to the studio suggests they both resigned.

Man, this is getting ugly, the CoD franchise will never be the same.

It'll be the same. They'll just keep using the same formula the old team made and maybe spice it up a little. Many gamers don't even know what's happening to IW so sales probably won't drop. I do wish the people that left good luck though.

the fact that it will stay the same is what worries me. Since Activision seems to be putting pressure on it's developers to milk money.

The issue is thee IW has a clause in their contract stating only IW is allowed to develop the "modern Warfare" franchise, otherwise Activision would have already handed off the job to some other studio.

This entire find its roots in the fact that IW does not want to make MWIII right away, they have a contract stating they are allowed to make a original IP game now after MWII, while Activision want to flog the same horse to the bone...

So activision has to take action to get MWIII in to production.

Just to state clarify one thing= Activision can hand the Call of Duty development responsibilitie s to who ever they want, but the COD "Modern Warfare" is locked with IW

well you enjoy BFBC then.
going by my freinds list loads of people went from mw2 to BFBC, started saying how great it was now they're all back on mw2 and I dont even see BFBC anymore under anybodies name.. hmmm

thats all the proof I need.

(that said) people on pc's I can understand having the hump about mw2 (cheaters) so would I but on the consoles (or at least ps3) the game is fine just needs some new maps.

Seems to me BFBC is just for the winey bumcracks that hate mw2 because its popular (and maybe those 5-10 pc gamers that are left :P)

There not "wineybumcracks" they just realized that mw2 is just not that great of a game so they went to the better game.. thats all, you shouldn't judge people like that..

Bumcracks? MW2 is fun while it lasts, but after a while of playing, it really has NOTHING new to offer. Two new maps every years? Get out of town.

Two new maps you say?
More like three new maps (Crash and Overgrown aren't entierly new)

COD was dead the day they stopped supporting the pc and when activation had creative control.

im sure that the devs quitting will go and join the new company that the founders of IW are supposedly starting, and this time they can keep creative control and make a better series, leaving COD to dead like MOH, delta force or quake.

ps. the human verification engine needs to be non case sensitive

# ..maybe....just maybe, new publisher and franchise!?AithePanda 2010-04-06 04:48
maybe that means that later on, the used-to-be-IW team will make an alternate version of MW games, idk maybe, if so then good for them and i root for them, if not then ..., anyone thinking of any good names to what they'd call it if they do get a nicer publisher and a new game?

-Warfare by itself would be awesome neh? or are there rights to that?

come on give me ur ideas!

yes ive said it before IW team should move to EA or codmaster but not sony or M$ just to avoid console exclusif games , that COD 4 team is talented but only if they work freely not under mlioners pressur , for the COD alternative as they keep the COD 4 in mind and try to upgrade it , ( not downgrading like MW2 ) if they cork on the COD 4 path and make a PC game that will be a true apologise for COD real players and clans .

I don't believe all these rumors, but if it's true something's not right, i wonder what is going to become of Call Of Duty 7.

It seems you fail to understand how unfair deadlines and publisher policies affect developers. So please think a little bit before you comment.

Oh wow, you absolutely and heavy handedly just ran through my comment with your eyes shut. Congratulations , I've not seen such a lack of intelligence since school!

My post was regarding the absolute lack of story presented in the game. I'm sorry if my fairly obvious post was above you.

Also I've always hit my deadlines with my industry projects. It's not difficult if some people whine about having to work too much or too hard, god forbid they had a job elsewhere in the world or had real problems.

And I'm sorry if my comment was too hard to understand since I replied to your lack of understanding on how deadlines can affect the quality of a game(you know, the thing you said about it lacking story). Also I don't recall IW whining about the deadline, they finished the game and met their deadline, even though they were not happy with the quality of it. And game development I think is a real job and people working there have real problems to deal with. So like I said before please think before you make a sarcastic remark or decide to go personal.

ive said 10 mounts ago that cod will die due to Activision direction to make COD a ripping maching and a console oriented game , also removing moods and servers made this game a true noob fps , ican imagine how they feel when they see their game only played by campers and retarded , i suggest to activision to apologise to COD hc players scene and work on a COD 4.5 , ohhh give the staf some of MW2 money , they worked on the consperency too .

# what?Guest 2010-04-06 10:37
I don't understand a thing you said. Maybe if you use real words, and then spell them correctly it would work. As for MW2, The story was horrible and short. But they claim that the multiplayer is where it's at. It feels just like the last two COD games. They haven't changed anything, oh maybe titles and emblems, but does anyone care? BFBC 2 has destructible levels, MAG has 256 player modes. While neither of those two games aren't perfect, at least they are trying something new for multiplayer. I feel cheated by this game and I hope Activision loses this franchise forever, actually they should can the whole idea and create a new IP.

But, I guess that's just me.

Why is it that every MW2 article gets trolled to hell by you annoying BFBC2 fanboys, get a life ffs!

Lets not forget that MW2 is still top dog and that wont change until MW3 comes out.

# MW2 is not top dogGuest 2010-04-07 04:18
MW2 an unplayable steaming POS, since there are no servers its got lag all of the time and its not vary balanced. as of right now BFBC2 is the top and the top COD is COD4.

i guess that MW2 was ok on the consoles but if u are using a controller for an FPS u are more than a little broken, and affter removing the tactical map selection it just turns into halo3 without super jump. its only advantage is that it came out before BC2

I think that the developer/publisher relationship practice must be changed. These days it seems that publishers are making the most out of developers while putting them under extreme pressure. I think developer studios should look for ways to be able to publish their own games as soon as they can instead of depending on a publisher even after they have a good portfolio of games.

Learn to type and stay on topic, BFBC2 has nothing to do with this article. It pained me to read your comment, it truly did. Your grammar, spelling, and general lack of knowing how to compose a proper sentence scare me.

Look cod has been practically the same game all the the only difference is that now the story sucks. i am a big multiplayer fan but I always want a good single-player experience to fall back on cod has been failing. and thats why i havnt been supporting online only game either, yeah i buy them but i lose interest quickgames like MAG Socom and COD heck even BFBC need to keep the player engaged by bringing out maps weapons and all that good stuff so far you cant argue that BFBC2 is the only one that has done that

Maybe if enough people leave they won't be able to continue the CoD series :o wouldn't that be fantastic. I'm not even being the slightest bit sarcastic, CoD is the crappiest most over-rated series of all time.

Hmmm, I think mw2 was a good fps (except the story, which was crap.
But they know how to make a good fps (COD4 anyone?)
