Treyarch: We did not lie about PS3's lack of Black Ops' regional search; "There's A Soldier in All of Us" ad released

Recently, issues were raised regarding the fact that Call of Duty: Black Ops for the PS3 did not have regional search. Several fans came to ask David Vonderheid on the matter and clarified that it was not their intent to lie to the fans about it.



 

Said Vonderheid on Twitter: "The considerations of platforms is always a difficult issue and may not be expalined in 140 charactres. People make mistakes. No lie." This was after some fans felt that they were lied to by Treyarch due to their failure to disclose said absence of regional search.



In the meantime, here's the latest TV ad of Black Ops, featuring no less than NBA superstar himself, Kobe Bryant:

PS3 regional search is in the game, itz say on the ps blog. As well the Treyarch’s community manager Josh Olin clarified the matter ‘‘Not true. PS3 has regional matchmaking just like the 360.”

I don't get it. What does this mean, exactly?

Oh, and... does this have anything to do with regional locks on downloads like map packs? Like, if I imported it from, say, the UK or even the US (though UK is more likely), would I be able to buy DLC on my german account and use it with me UK (or US) game?

It means anyone can play, and anyone can be a soldier in this game, no matter who you are.

So let me get this straight, somebody was angry because there was no regional search in the PS3 version of the game, somebody else apologized for it, and after all that somebody else said that the feature was there from the beginning? What was the apology for then?
