Treyarch: Quickscoping a "cheap way to play", won't be in final Black Ops

Remember that sniper gameplay footage that came out from Call of Duty: Black Ops' closed beta sometime last week? Well, apart from showing off some sniper action, it also showed a bit of "quickscoping". If you were looking forward to that, we hate to burst your bubble but that's not going to be in the final game.

Treyarch community manager Josh Olin about the quickscoping feature in a recent Q&A via Twitter, he said that it's a "cheap way to play." Olin's specific response: "No. Quickscoping is a cheap way to play. We're specifically going to gimp Quickscoping, sorry. Play straight-up!"

And there you have it. No cheap play for you in Black Ops. So play straight-up. Here's that sniper gameplay footage for you once more; after all, this will probably be the only time you'll ever see Quickscoping in Black Ops.

Again with the stereotypes eh? Just generalize the entire age group under 16 to immature brats. Yes the main population of 10 - 17 year olds, should not be playing for the lack of proper communication and the goal it seems, to be as annoying as possible. But there are many teens that can play and can have mature conversations with anybody online, just as well as you. I am 15, and have been playing online with a mic, since I was 13 and had no complaints. It also seems that this is only the case on the PSN. XBL seems to have more kiddies.

Kids under 18 shouldn't be playing these games. For example, both GTA and COD: MW2 are rated as 18 in the UK.

A 13 year-old might *think* they're emotionally mature enough to handle these games, but I can assure you they're not.

Since that's the "hormones on fire" period, most of them are annoying, especially on fps games. If you are mature for your age I congratulate you because not that many are, even half of the "adults" playing online seem to have been frozen in puberty or think they grew on ghetto hoods.

Stereotypes tend to come with a point, but aye there are some mature teenagers players out there, but mostly 1/30 or 1/40 in my experience. VERY rarely I actually got good and communicative team mates. Its either silence, or raging/orgasming kids or racist gits. Oh and faggot screamers, we can't forget those...

1/30? I'd say it's a lot higher than that... the problem is the immature ones tend to be the loudest. The more mature players tend not to give a shit and just stay quiet unless they're playing with friends, but even then they usually just mute everyone else.

I completely agree with you there...I mute everyone unless playing with friends. Every now and then I'll pair up with some random people and set up a mic, but that's not very often.

I like how quickscopers act like they got uber skills, when the only only skills they got is placing a sticker the tv and pressing both the aim and shoot buttons at the same time when something is on the sticker, lame.

None of my friends do that... I've seen them quick scope in person, and they've just got a pretty good idea of where the center is.

No one puts stickers on the screen and press the aim and shoot button at the same time, cause they would almost never hit. That is called no scoping. Sad bigots. You're running around with your grenade launchers, martyrdom and what not, and think you're SO awesome you because you got a good K/D thanks to all your cheap playing. I would love to see you guys quick scope, and you'll see for yourselves how difficult it is. And put that video on youtube will you, so we can laugh at how hard you get owned.

Thank you. Someone who actually knows what they're talking about. I had a friend who always bitched about quickscoping and said it took no skill. I went to his house and watched him try to quickscope for a complete game and he went something like 4 and 17. Aim assist does nothing for quickscoping that it doesnt do for any other gun. Thats the problem with ignorance, people don't know theyre wrong and wont give anyone a chance to show them that theyre wrong.

Wow this is really retarded. I find nothing about quickscoping to be cheap, its not like its soo easy to do, and its not a disadvantage to players not quickscoping, i actually found quickscoping to be fun especially in a private match with all my friends. I am very disappointed about this.

It is cheap, and it is easy to do. As someone up above stated put a small sticker on the center of the screen. This takes no skill, I mastered it in a whopping 10 min. The disadvantage to other players comes in when sniper rifles deliver a one shot kill on anything above the waste. I wont be missing this at all.

The sticker thing doesnt work for mw2, sorry to tell you Mac. That sticker thing started with rainbow six so that people could blindfire sniper rifles (in that game the bullet goes straight down the middle). in mw2, unless youre scoped completely in, the bullet almost never goes right down the middle. you mastered it in 10 mins? by mastering do you mean you shot someone who was stationary while standing still yourself after the second or third shot?

Hahaha wow. People quickscope because theyre tired of using regular guns (at least thats why I started). Regular guns are so so so so easy to use. I quit using them because it was no longer a challenge.

You only find someone who is really really really good probably once in every 7 S&D game. Maybe 1 in 20 ffa or TDM games. Stop being babies. This is one of those thing that shouldn't even matter. There are worse things in CoD than this. Rocket Launchers and grenade launcher spammer are examples.

If you complain about quickscoping then you must suck at the game. It's one of those things in the game that isn't even all that bad.
