Treyarch: No more World War II for us |

It seems gamers waiting for the Call of Duty franchise to return to World War II conflicts are going to be plenty disappointed. Developer Treyarch has intimated that as far as they're concerned, the more modern trend started by Modern Warfare is here to stay.
"For us, I don't think we would go back because we've done a lot of World War II," said Treyarch community manager Josh Olin in a recent interview with SPonG. "I'm not saying that the genre's done. It would be important that, if there ever were to be another game set in the World War II era, it would have to be something that's fresh and new."
The studio's last World War II era game, World at War, offered a different take from previous games in the franchise by focusing on the South Pacific theater of war. The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops, scheduled for launch this November, is set further into the future during the Cold War.
