In an ideal world, we would love to ship a completely bug-proof game. I can't think of a single developer in the world, though, that could achieve that."
Treyarch, of course, is the developer of the highly-acclaimed CoD: Black Ops. However, even an AAA title like Black Ops is not immune from those pesky bugs. The PS3 version, for one, has been so rife with them, that offers for a trade-in have even surfaced for the game.

Olin, for his part, has been very busy attempting to appease the fans at the forums, explaining their patch process, so that the fans may be enlightened why despite the numerous patches they've sent out thus far, players are still experiencing problems with the game.
Simply put, all Olin wanted to say in the interview was that Treyarch has got their hands full trying to please everybody.

it's not about this "ideal world" bullsh-it it's about doing things right as much as possible, geeze just because you can send out patches to fix games doesn't mean it gives you the right to halfass it. Patches are meant to add features, not fix what you were too lazy to do in the first place, it's a sad fact because all game developers are starting to rely on the patch system, and as soon as you know it, you're downloading a 2gb patch file

back in the olden days bugs were very hard to find unless the game was sloppily made AS IN THE CASE OF BLACK OPS.
companies like to make excuses for releasing unfinished games. The truth is, they just want to meet certain deadlines, in this case, it was the holidays.
It's really not as hard as they make it sound. How do I know? I'm a game dev.

Of course nobody is perfect but with the amount these guys are being paid I expect near perfection and a full game with no cut content.

However, as easily as people are finding the hacks, it's seriously like they didn't mass test this at all. Unfortunately people will keep buying these games even if they suck, so there really is no motivation on their part. Release now, fix later

famas is way too overpowered you cannot beat it
error lost connection to host
where it lags & u are about to stab someone, it freezes & they move n stab you very very annoying!!
screen flickers showing funny graphics while scrolling through menus
and the list goes on, if they are not fixed then i might as well play black ops on my 360 instead.. & i thought infinity ward was bad with the hacking this is 100% worse

there's a world of difference between a bug that extends a gun's range and a bug which keeps DROPPING ME FROM MATCHES OUT OF THE FUCKING BLUE.
I understand you can't predict the discovery of a lot of the bugs, but when people are having issues as basic as connecting to games thanks to your sloppy programming, then I think you have your cue to get off your ass and start doing your job.

It's funny that they've been blaming eveeryone but themselves for the shitty job they do. There's a reason why everyone considered their CoD's the shitty ones and IW's the "good" ones

Test Analyst myself, I agree that the QA team could never find every bug in the game, but there is a very simple solution to this.. RELEASE A BETA FIRST! A beta release allows the community to test the product for you, report on the problems found and allow you to fix them before final release. Yes, some of them will still make it into the final release, but overall you have a better product. Activision wanted to keep anticipation high in order to make more money, and this is what we ended up with.
