THQ officially announces Red Faction: Armageddon |

THQ has sent out an official announcement for Red Faction: Battlegrounds, the downloadable companion to Red Faction: Armageddon. No specific release date yet, but the announcement did carry a few more details about the game.
Battlegrounds stays true to its Red Faction roots with its highly destructible environments. Players can demolish pretty much anything that stands in their way, from military compounds to enemy vehicles, using advanced Martian artillery and explosives. Vehicles include fast-attack vehicles, heavy tanks and combat walkers.
The multiplayer component will support both local and online multiplayer for up to four players. There are a variety of game modes available, inlcuding Survival, Annihilate and Flag Frenzy. Rising up the ranks will award players with unique bonus playable content like maps, vehicles, weapons and even items for use in Armageddon.
Red Faction: Battlegrounds will come out on PSN and XBL next year.
